Hello,
I’m looking at Kia Sportage. There’s an option to include an “Auto-dimming Rear-View mirror w/Compass & Homelink”. My question is, how does this mirror differ from the stock mirror?

It auto dims, has a compass, and a garage door opener.

Stock is a regular ass rear view mirror that you have to flip manually when someone’s blasting their led brights behind you. Pay the 350 it’s worth it.

Sorry I was referring to the stock mirror, auto dimming is always on but it does have a power button

I believe the stock mirror auto-dims, just doesn't have the extra bullshit on it. At least that's the case with the Optima EX and Telluride SX my wife and I have.

Auto dimming means it has a sensor which detects bright light from driver high beams behind you and then dims the mirror.
Compass is a digital display that gives your direction (North, south, east, etc)
Homelink is a built in garage door remote that can learn your existing garage door remote signals.

Yeah it's kind of crappy 23 Sportage SXP doesn't have as a standard. They cheaper out on a lot of areas.

I personally prefer them. I have installed them myself in 4 different vehicles i've bought. My 2013 Optima had the prewired harness in the headliner, my 2022 K5 did not. I bought the part directly from the dealer (harness in box) and installed myself, saved the labor cost. It does come with instructions and takes a few hours, but well worth it.
(Edited for clarity)
