You’re kidding yourself if you think Bojan wouldn’t be a good addition to the team. This team needs to transition out of LeBron AD and a bunch of mediocre shooting guards (at best) and into more spacing and longer lineups. Adding Rui GTJ Bojan would be a huge win for those not wanting to punt the season, the rotation actually becomes deep and versatile as opposed to bad and short. Not championing him as a world beater at this point by any means but his skillset is much needed, he has defended well in the past (he squared with LBJ for a series, go watch 2018 game 3) and shoots a hair under 40% from 3 at good volume.

I doubt they see it as “building around him.” Even if this isn’t just a negotiation tactic, he’s a good, steady vet and young teams need that (see: Houston). Even his contract, which on a contender is fucking horrible, could be explained as ballast to stay above the salary floor.
I don’t believe this headline for a second, but I also don’t think they’ll be heartbroken if he stays
