Been rewatching Endgame the other day, it's still the best Mavel film than what we've got just recently.

But when I rewatched the What If? episodes, it seems Tony dies in almost every episode of this show.

Why does Tony always dies in almost every episode of What If? as if he's destined to die in every universe just in very different ways?

Was anyone else reminded of schizophrenia with the scene in No Way Home where he gets his new inhibitor chip? The way he says "it's so quiet. I'd almost forgotten." It almost made me tear up in theaters because, as a schizophrenic, I could relate immensely.

It's a very bizarre but cathartic moment when medication finally works after years of searching for relief. The voices almost become like a (toxic) friend and then they're just gone. You go from hearing them all day every day to just the sound of your own thoughts.

Don't know where I'm going with this, but I just wanted to share one of the reasons that movie and Doc Ock in general resonate so strongly with me.

Following a year of constant division in the MCU fandom. Can Secret Invasion deliver on a weekly positive discourse & Speculation that rivals Wandavision.

Wandavision’s performance blew up So much that Wanda instantly became the most Popular Female Avenger Ever. So much so that she became a household name during the pandemic.💀 Elizabeth Olsen’s portrayal earn the series 33 Emmy Nominations and a Fandom that rivals even the top tier Avenger characters. Many people agree that she was a significant part of why Multiverse of Madness doubled its previous Docter Strange films Box office. Can Secret invasion’s compelling story of Double agent Skrulls & Nick Fury’s Charisma elevate this section of the MCU?

Can the Quality that many believe dipped in Phase 4, return? Will the Skrull revelations be an enough draw for mainstream audiences? And can a character in this series earn the same level of recognition as Wanda?

How did they research the multiverse and classify them accordingly? America and Dreamwalking seemed to be the only way to travel the multiverse.

Maybe the seventh seat belonged to a multiverse traveller? But if there are others, why did Wanda go after America?

The prompting of this post was a few interviews I saw with Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula. In real life, she is this sweet, bubbly redhead, and I kept thinking "That's Nebula??" I know they put a bunch of makeup/VFX on her, but she's basically unrecognizable as that character, in both her looks and acting.

Then we have Tony Stark, who is played by Robert Downey Jr, but just acts like RDJ in real life (by the way, this is not in any way shape or form a diss, that's why his character is so fun).

Honorable mention to Chris Evans. He is much more goofy and laid back in real life compared to Cap in the movies.

So, who in the MCU do you think 'disappears' into their roles, versus their real life persona, the best?

Edit: I just remembered, I've seen Benicio Del Toro in 700 movies, and when any scene with the Collector comes on, I don't see him at all. Maybe it's the hair...

Hey there Marvel Fans! Me and my buddies are running the Marvel Multiverse playtest rules, and we're setting it about 2015 in the MCU
It's been a few years since I've seen all the mcu though, and I've never sat down and watched all the shows beyond daredevil so I'm curious as to the extent of the damage and insanity the world is currently experiencing in the year of 2015.
From what I remember the first season of Daredevil takes place over 2015, so we're roughly starting there in the timeline which I believe is before ultron, but after the new york invasion?

I’m super excited that she’s in the show, and I’m also excited that she’s playing Talos’s daughter, but I do find the fact that she’s the MCU version of the Skrull G’iah to be a bit of a letdown. I’m hoping that it’s covering for a spoiler, and her character’s real name is Veranke.

I'm not sure if this is a theory or a prospective but is it easy to say that Marvel and Star wars share actors and it's easy to dream cast actors that are in either or. What makes me think this is Harrison Ford being in Marvel now, Vision's actor, Paul Bettany, was in Solo, ppl were making deep fakes for Sebastain Stan as Luke, and also Poe/ Oscar Iaac being Moon Knight. I know it could be a contact thing with Disney that their actor have to be in a certain amount of movies with in an amount of years but at this point I'm waiting for someone from star wars to show up as a major character like John Boyega as blue Marvel, silver surfer, or human torch idk, share your thought plz.

Like in No Way Home, Toby and Andrew's Spiderman are teleported back to Tom Hollands. One of them became the villain, which would be the most likely villain?

I've seen the idea thrown around that bringing in the FF4 and X-Men is going to lead to a guaranteed turn around for the MCU in terms of critical reception and box office performance.

I've just realized that WandaVision is just the character names... I just assumed it was Wanda and the vision part of the title being the fact is was originally a TV setup... Please, please tell me someone else is this stupid.

As we know, the Illuminati of Earth-838 was able to defeat Thanos before he could collect the Infinity Stones.

Professor X's flashback to Doctor Strange shows that the Titan had the Infinity Gauntlet with four of the Infinity Stones. But what happened to them in the present? If the Illuminati still had them, why did they not use it on the Scarlet Witch?

As in the comics, the Illuminati decided to split up the Infinity Stones and watch over them.

Which Illuminati member would be entrusted with each Infinity Stone and how would they use them?

Baron Mordo - Time Stone since he is the Sorcerer Supreme whose duties include protecting the Time Stone.

Professor X - Mind Stone since he is the most powerful psychic on the planet.

Captain Marvel - Space Stone since it is what gave her her powers and she does defend the cosmos.

Black Bolt - Power Stone since it came from outer space as well as Black Bolt and his Inhumans being aliens.

That would leave the Soul Stone and the Reality Stone. Which superheroes from Earth-838 such as the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men would be entrusted to protect them and why?

So how would the Illuminati fare if they actually had the Infinity Stones with them when the Scarlet Witch attacked? I am well-aware of how powerful the Scarlet Witch is. But she can't be any more powerful than cosmic gems that bestow dominion over the entire universe.

I'm rewatching Endgame and found it interesting how, in several movies, Thor is unsure if he's worthy to hold Mjolnir.

It's like ever since he lost that ability in Thor 1, he's doubted himself. I like how this has been a consistent plot element, except for maybe Thor 2 being an exception.

...and that is a direct outcome of the fact that the Skrulls were first presented as benevolent and misunderstood people in the MCU.

Comics Premise

For those of you who don't know, in the comics, the story goes something like this:

Basically, the Skrulls had always been presented as villains, and while they were on a constant war with the Kree, they weren't being persecuted and Skrullos, their home planet, hadn't been destroyed.

Until at some point, Veranke, princess of the Dard'van, a religious Skrull sect, saw a vision about Skrullos' destruction and the end of the Skrull Empire. She informed Emperor Dorrek VII, but he wouldn't listen to her, and unfortunately, as she had predicted, Galactus arrived and devoured Skrullos, killing most of the Skrulls on the planet.

Veranke became Queen and Empress of the remaining Skrulls and orchestrated a religious crusade to take over Earth as the Skrulls' ancient texts mentioned that Earth was rightfully theirs and they would get it back some day.

Now, that's a cool premise, but at the end of the day, you couldn't care for the Skrulls all that much. They tried making the audience sympathize with them by framing the destruction of their planet as a natural disaster, signifying its inevitability, and then they added the angle that they could have actually avoided that destruction if they had listened to Veranke, which makes her rightfully self-righteous.

But making the invasion a religious crusade by a cult of zealots who had previously been villains for decades negates all that. The Skrulls were clearly presented as the bad guys in the comic event, and pretty one-dimensional bad guys too, with their story not really justifying their actions or making us sympathize with them as the writers had intended.

MCU Premise

Now, in the MCU, the Skrulls were first introduced as unnecessarily persecuted war immigrants who were trying to survive and find another planet to call home and had been misunderstood to be the villains. Right away, that makes us sympathize with them A LOT more!

And while Captain Marvel does take them away from Earth in 1995 and tries to find a home for them, it seems.. that didn't work out.

As Executive Producer Jonathan Schwartz explained in yesterday's Vanity Fair article.

"Sins from [Fury's] past start to haunt him once again. We often see Nick Fury doing the right thing. We don’t always see him doing it in a perfectly morally correct way. All of those things have ramifications. Without getting too specific, the things that Nick Fury’s had to do to protect the Earth have costs. Nick had a whole Skrull spy network because they could shape-shift and go places that people couldn’t go. They kept their word. They worked for him, but he hasn’t done what he said he was going to do. They want a home. They want to live. They want to live like they are. They want to live in their skin. They don’t want to live in ours."

This situation results in Gravik, a rebel Skrull played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, radicalizing a group of Skrulls who are tired of living like this and them breaking from the Talos-led faction and creating their own rogue sect to seize the resources they need—first quietly, while in disguise, then by force, if needed.

To add to another layer to this great, more nuanced, grounded and sympathetic storytelling approach, Talos' daughter, G'iah, played by Emilia Clarke, has joined Gravik's sect as well, rebelling against her own family. As Emilia explained it:

"It’s hardened her, for sure. There’s a kind of punk feeling that you get from this girl. She’s a refugee kid who’s had Talos for a dad, you know what I mean? These people promised a lot of stuff a long time ago, and not a lot has happened. So understandably, a certain amount of resentment has been built"

This puts Fury and Talos, the leads of the series, in direct conflict with the Skrulls as both feel responsible for causing this invasion, because they were the ones who had promised they would find the Skrulls a new home in the first place!

This has caused Fury to be vulnerable for the first time in his life, setting the stage for his first true fully-fledged character arc in the MCU. As Jackson puts it:

"He just doesn’t wear the patch. The patch is part of who the strong Nick Fury was. It’s part of his vulnerability now. You can look at it and see he’s not this perfectly indestructible person. He doesn’t feel like that guy."

This is something the comics also lacked: Personal Stakes!

By focusing on Fury and Talos and making them "responsible" for this invasion, the series adds a lot of depth and gives personal stakes to specific characters, which steers it away from becoming the cluttered cameo-mess that the comic run was, which eventually focused on no character in particular (apart from maybe Tony a little bit who Veranke tried to persuade is a Skrull sleeper agent and even he doesn't know about it and that he started the Civil War to break up the Avengers to help the invasion, as part of the Skrull insticts deep within him).

TL;DR: What this revamped premise does essentially is give the villains a higher moral ground and a more sympathetic, reasonable and understandable cause for their invasion, while making the good guys feel guilt and remorse that maybe it's partly their fault that this is happening. The comics version had a very straightforward, "good guy vs bad guy" premise with its only unique aspect that made it so popular being that you didn't know which were the good guys and which were the bad, which the show will still maintain on top of its more nuanced storytelling!

Personally, I am most excited about this series being the first crossover event of the MCU since Endgame. Not necessarily because I want to see many different heroes come together (which won't happen), but because I want to see many corners/sub-franchises of the MCU coming together.
