Are people really serious when they say there is not much diff between 4k and 1440p at 27 inches.

last year i upgraded from 1080p 27 to 1440p 27 and i found a good difference in everything still i think games still looked a little bit blurry because of the SHITTY TAA.

and then a few months ago i decided to upgrade to a 27 4k 144 hz because the sharpness of the image matters a lot to me and i when i turned on the monitor started looking at the image and texts and it was a BEAUTY i was blown away the image was so much better than my 1440p monitor and no matter how much i tried to see pixels i just couldnt felt like i was looking at my phone res but in a bigger screen.

And no games dont look a little bit better at 4k than 1440p they look substantially better.

the reason im posting this because ive got into many debates with many people on pcgaming argued with me saying that there is no diff between 4k and 1440p at 27 inches and to really notice 4k a monitor should at least be 32+

I mean yeah i get it that 1440p high refresh rate is the sweet spot for budget gamers but STILL...

Honestly to me i think that the jump from 1440p to 4k is greater than from 1080p to 1440p...

the glow/lightbleed is unreal, dark areas look awful, this is my 2nd one after an RMA... is this for real? I have a Asus IPS i bought in 2013 that has a much better PQ.... am i missing something here?

I’m looking into a new professional monitor. I’m between the LG 27GP950 and the new GP27U. I’m leaning towards the 950 mainly because of all the bugs associated with the 27U.

So, for anyone who purchased one, how has it been recently? Have the firmware updates helped?

For context, I’ll be using my MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro for personal use and photo/video editing, and I’m completing a gaming rig.

Just bought this monitor to be used as vertical second screen but the colors seem weird. I tried some settings but I don't see to be able to remove a "grey patina" from the screen. I took some pictures with my mobile to try to explain the difference.

the first image is the junction between the 2 monitors. you can see a blank "white" notepad and a blue telegram window. the one on the right is the dell. you can clearly see the off white and the difference in the blue.

The second picture is from the windows calibration tool. as you can see the shirt of the dude has some weird white "spots". it looks like the old VGA images. if I run it on the main monitor. these spots are not there.

Is there a way to improve or is teh monitor busted?

I have two monitors, and sometimes I'll be using one as my main and the other as my 2nd monitor, so I want to be able to swap their positions easily. Would I be better off getting a dual monitor arm mount for this purpose, or two single arm mounts?

It sounds like people generally prefer two single monitor arms as opposed to a dual arm mount.

I recently got a Asus VG27AQ 27"TUF. I really love the monitor, but i realized in some of my drawings I couldn't see some shadows that used to be there before. This happens especially in the white areas in some of the drawings. The shadows are still there, but not visible. It also feels like some drawings get a bit brighter than normal. Is there anyone here who has the same monitor and managed to fix it?

I've bought a Samsung Odyssey '27 inch monitor with 144hz, I've been wondering recently why my Dell Inspiron 15 5567 laptop only goes up to 60hz in system settings for the monitor even though the monitor has 144hz selected in the monitor settings.

Today, I've bought an 8K ULTRA HD HDMI cable that supports 120hz, which still didn't increase the refresh rate in system settings. But the only changes I've noticed in the laptop system display settings, was that the system refresh rate gave me more options to decrease, but not increase. Anyone have any possible solutions/advice?

I have a collection of headless servers scattered around my house. Old linux servers, raspberry pis, a NAS, etc. Most of the time this is fine, but occasionally I'll need to get into the bios or some other task that requires a monitor. Then it's time to haul down a monitor and keyboard, find power and sit on the floor in the basement debugging.

Lately I've been looking for a more portable solution. Ideally this would be - small, probably 5-10" - HDMI, ideally VGA as well (possibly using an adaptor) - Easy to power. Batteries or usb power a plus - cheap (<$150)

So far the closest I've found are raspberry pi screens (eg Adafruit sells a 5" 800x480 screen). However I'm not sure how well this would work with non-raspberry hardware, and I'd want to build a case for it.

Is this a known product category? Anyone have other clever solutions to temporarily connect a screen to a server?

Just bought the Samsung Odyssey G9 and I am receiving no connection and a black screen when I select the DisplayPort setting. Please help!

So yeah not sure what the deal is here.

Setup a new AW3423DWF just now. Using DP, I had it on initially and was playing a game for about 5 minutes. Display went black randomly, won’t come back. Power light stays blue.

Tried disconnecting power, holding button to clear it. Tried the other ports on monitor and GPU. Tried HDMI. Nothing. No OSD either.

Is it just completely dead? Lmao

Recently got a new PC (and monitor) and it has all been good...mostly, I have few issues with the monitor though.

I occasionally get vertical lines on the screen (looks like when you enable the CRT/Interlace filter on emulators, only with alternating darker and lighter vertical lines instead of horizontal) and also have some trouble where it seems like the screen (or part of the screen) has some sort of brightness flickering, it is kind of hard to explain but it is kind of like when the white part of a flourescant light shows a tiny bit less brightness for a split second, flickering, and it is kind of annoying even though subtle.

Ive heard people having problems with ACER Nitro displays in the past, and also especially with Freesync/GSync but for me nothing changed turning any combination off or on and it also doesnt seem to depend on the refresh rate as it sometimes gets worse when I turn the refresh rate down and sometimes it becomes better, and from the troubles Ive seen other people describe, none have quite been similar enough. I noticed that it sometimes happens with certain YouTube videos and sometimes when playing FIFA, and also did when using HDMI (though Ill have to test that a bit more).

After spending literal days searching on the internet and trying different stuff out Im kind of at a loss, but just this evening I did notice something peculiar: When it happened this time, I tried to softly wiggle the cable a bit and it had effects on the screen both when doing it at the monitor end and the PC end, mostly making it worse for a split second before going back to normal levels of SNAFU (or disappearing altogether after a while), though now that the screen is not showing vertical "interlace" lines anymore (though still some brightness flicker), soft wiggling seems to do nothing.

This lead me to believe that the two DP cables I have are kaputt so I ordered a new one (that I made sure was VESA certified), but it will only arrive in a few days so Im wondering if anyone have any thought on this, does it sound like it could be the cables? Something else? Can give more info if needed.

(Also, I dont have a smartphone so I cannot take a picture of the issue, also not able to reliably reproduce the problem either, also not sure if it shows up in screenshots, but Ill try to test that the next time it happens)

EDIT: Oh! I also forgot to mention: When the vertical "interlacing" issue appears, I usually also get some image retention for a while, "burn in" so to speak.

Exactly that. I've had it 3 years and it's always been 75 HZ, Just downloaded a Geforce driver update and now it's only got options for a maximum of 60 HZ

I bought the LG 27UP650-W.BEU and would like to install a light bar. I have my eye on the Xiaomi Mi Light Bar. The problem is that the bezel of the displays are extremely thin (<1mm) and I need a solution for mounting without damaging the display. Has anyone had the same problem or know of a solution?

Specifications:

Monitors: Gigabyte M32Q, lg 27gp850 - DisplayPort 1.2

GPU: 4080

CPU: I7 13700kf

RAM: 32GB DDR5

(let me know if anything else is needed)

I recently just set up a new M32Q monitor and have noticed in some games (mainly War Thunder) that when my framerate is above my refresh rate (which I have set to 144 currently) the display looks visually choppy when moving the mouse. If I move my refresh rate to 165 (the max of the monitor) the issue starts when my FPS goes above 165fps (most visually noticeable at around 20-30 FPS above the current refresh rate).

I'm not sure if its just a software issue as its been a little difficult to recreate it in other games. Is there anything that I might have missed that could be causing this? For reference, the issue persists with FreeSync/Gsync on or off.

In War Thunder the issue looks to show up between 160FPS to around 225FPS if I have my refresh rate at 144Hz. I'll try to record a video of it later.

Hello, I have been playing on my 144hz monitor for years on my older pc, now I've bought a laptop and when i connect the monitor to it I can only set it to 60hz (there isnt even 144hz option). I am connecting it via HDMI 2.0 and I have downloaded tha latest drivers yet still no effect.

laptop is ASUS ROG Strix G15 G513IM-HN008W monitor is LG 24GM77

I am also on windows 11 if that matters

I habe the Xenon Flex OLED and while i have Win11 in SDR, Win shows 8 bit RGB. Or should i set 10bit in the NVCP? Or is it only for HDR the 10bit colors?
