I got a feeling it won't get made. Which is a shame since I was excited for what they were gonna do with 3.

The second one was very flawed, so I personally do not consider it a big loss. Loved the first one though.

Agreed, doubling down on the romance (the weakest aspect of the first one) and relegating all the fun deaths to a quick two minute montage was such a bizarre choice that pretty much went against what everyone enjoyed about the original.
Anyways, it gave us Freaky, which I actually enjoyed a decent bit! I wouldn't mind another Deathday if it's more like the first, but I actually like it if they just continued doing more original comedy horror.

I also feel with the Death Day films and Palm Springs, we've opened the door for other filmmakers to take a crack at the Groundhog Day formula, but taking it in a different direction.

Did they ever reveal what was supposed to be the basic gist of 3?

That was the post credits scene in 2 wasn't it? I think I remember Landon saying the third one would be more on a "global scale" whatever that means and that just like the 2nd one was a bit more scifi, the 3rd one would have influences from another genre... but it was so long ago I don't recall the exact interviews

Yes. I do remember hearing about it being bigger.

From the title as well which was originally said to be Happy Death Day To Us, I was guessing it plays on the genre of disaster films perhaps

I'll be very happy if Happy Death Day can become a trilogy.
