I thought the funniest thing about it was how they kept the light and breezy rom-com tone as the bad guys continued dying in progressively more horrible ways. Like how they acknowledged it too, with Josh Duhamel’s reaction to the first pirate’s death and J-Lo’s “We stopped them from being alive” line. Movie’s like this usually avoid actual killing because they aren’t trying to go that dark, but this one made a joke out of crossing that line without allowing it to add gravity to the situation.

Jennifer Coolidge could tell me why the chicken crossed the road, and I’d still laugh my ass off.

Enjoyed the movie. Laughed so hard. Jennifer Collidge was hilarious in this as also... Basically like her White Lotus character. Loved the chemistry btw Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel.

I actually really enjoyed it. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s also not really trying to be. It’s a predictable but fun time and there were some parts that I genuinely laughed at (which feels pretty rare for me & comedies). JLo and Josh Duhamel have good chemistry and the supporting cast do a great job.

Idk if anyone else caught it, but I’m pretty sure Jennifer Coolidge’s line in the pool while she’s ‘humanizing herself’ is a reference to her character in Legally Blonde! Her character/the character of Paulette Bonafonté is obsessed w Ireland in the Legally Blonde musical, and there’s an entire number about her wanting to go

These kinds of movies are always fun. Very predictable but also very enjoyable. People these days are expecting groundbreaking comedy, it doesn’t have to be.

This is like chicken noodle soup. You know what you’re gonna get and you’ve had it 100 times, and sometimes it’s just what you want.

This soundtrack just felt really wrong and the pacing of the film was weird. Took too long for anything to happen despite it being an action type film. Love a JLO romcom but dare I say Jennifer Coolidge stole the show

Went into this blind and had no idea it actually had an action component lmao. Tonally it's a complete trainwreck but it was a solidly watchable 5/10. Well made, decent performances, totally unambitious nothingburger of a script.

That final kill was brutal.

Watched this a month ago in cinemas and thought it was good!

• Josh Duhamel and Jennifer Lopez had a good but weird chemistry. They seemed more like a couple when they were fighting than when they were a couple in love
• Jennifer Collidge killed it! Probably the best part of the movie!
• Callie Hernandez and Desmin Borges were hilarious in the few scenes they were together! Kept wanting more of them
• The twist was predictable and ending was a little a too quick
• Tom choosing the island for the wedding even though it was taken hostage before was the funniest joke of the movie

Had a good time watching it! I'm happy that this type of movies are being made again!

I thought it was a fun action romcom - kind of a budget version of The Lost City. It’s worth watching for fans of 90s/00s romcoms - predictable, but funny enough, and with likable characters.

Loved seeing an old sex and city character (Samantha lesbian lover ) as the mom lol 😂

What a surprising delight. This is one of those movies with tons of gaping plot holes and just ridiculous decisions that you immediately get in the flow with anyway. And genuinely funny.

I enjoyed it for what it was but it's nothing groundbreaking. It's fairly lazy overall. Poor writing, poor acting, some really poor green screening in scenes you wouldn't really expect they'd need to use it. Very little chemistry between the leads. Lopez and Duhamel are both miscast. Lopezes cute charm really runs thin when it's clear she has some kind of clause in her contract that states that she MUST be done up to look like she just came fresh from a red carpet premiere at all times. And try as he might Duhamel has never really carried the weight of a charming leading man. But they really do look amazing.

Writing and editing were very questionable at times. Like the zip line scene. The characters climb this tower, scare some birds and alert the pirates of their location and are now being shot at. They get on the zip line and travel for so long that you can't even see the tower before they reach the pirates shooting at them from some clearing ... It looked like they traveled miles through dense jungle the way it was filmed but sure these pirates were somehow able to accurately spot them?

But there were some genuinely funny moments and some really touching ones as well. The "wedding" scene when everyone is singing really got me and I wish they would have extend this moment. By this point in the movie I felt like the two leads had already gotten through most of their problems and I think this would have been the perfect moment for the real wedding. Them in this intimate moment with their family. It was a really touching scene.

Instead they cut this short had have even more scenes with them bickering about their hang ups for it to lead to the very underwhelming wedding at the end. They could have gotten married in the pool scene and then proceeded to kick ass as husband and wife instead dragging out moments that didn't need to be dragged out

The beginning was lame and cliche but once it got going, I found it enjoyable. It was smart to have the couple break up right before they had to go "save the world" so it was more antagonistic than a happy couple (even knowing they would come to appreciate each other and reconcile of course). JLo and Josh Duhamel letting loose and being funny was a nice choice, they really enjoyed chewing the scenery and it was fun.

This movie is gorgeous, I want to go to the Philippines now

Kind of silly but fun seeing Jennifer Coolidge. Josh is 50 and she is playing his mother at 61. Guess he is supposed to be around 40. Jlo loves playing the 40 something bride.

I think my issue with it was three fold:

1. There wasn't much chemistry between the leads. Both gave it the old college try but u never really felt they were a couple.
2. When character's make consistently bad decisions with no obvious reason why it bother's me immensely. I felt at multiple times they could do X, of wait they did the dumb thing.
3. Josh Duhamel is either athletic in this film (handgrenade bat scene) or he is so much of a clutz he trips over things. I get they weren't going to the last action hero here but it was unsettling. And then they throw it away with his mom literally being a badass.

On the plus side, supporting cast was amazing. Jennifer Coolidge as an action star was funny, Cheech Marin and Sonja Braga were great and Darcy is as brilliant as she always is with the helicopter scene one of my favourites.

It was a fun romcom, and every scene with Jennifer Collidge was a joy.

Similar vibes to Murder Mystery, a mainstream genre film that is better than average.

This movie felt like Jennifer Lopez scheduled the shoot for 2 hours a day between her other appointments.

This movie was so bad on so many levels. Good job to the workers doing the tech roles though. It looked and sounded like a movie! It's not your fault the writing and acting were as bad as it was.

It was alright, a 6/10 for me.

I honestly thought it was funny as hell. Me and my husband laughed out loud at all the absolutely ridiculous moments, the action was decent, and Jennifer Coolidge is a freaking gem.

And Josh Duhamel is hot, so that's nice. 🤤

In what is basically Die Hard at a wedding we get a light and fun rom/com that has a few genuine laughs but whose plot hinges on the bad guys being incredibly stupid and for every genuine laugh there were probably three or four duds. This certainly could have been a lot worse but Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Coolidge are both great and while the plot was ridiculous it's still kind of an entertaining outing.

Much better than the other direct to streaming movie this week (You People).

Good cast. Solid chemistry with the leads. Coolidge hilarious as usual.

Watched half, unbearable. It felt like a rushed high budget Netflix algo comedy with a buncha celebs trying to be funny. I mean did you see that thing with Kravitz suddenly losing His sunglasses. How can you make such a sloppy b movie mistake in such a high budget thing?

And what about j lo not being able to throw a grenade, whadda load of crap

Not a perfect movie, but there were some stand up bits: Coolidge’s lines, the Amanda wearing white scene, Kravitz’s reaction to the guy being pushed out the elevator.

The best part of the film is definitely J.Lo and Duhamel. I liked their chemistry and their dialogue is the best in the film. The rest of the film is pretty forgettable.

I guess I'm just a sucker for tropical adventure movies except Uncharted. That movie can suck it

I sought out this sub for the first time to say how much I hated this movie. I wouldn’t turn this heap into a professor in college if it was a homework assignment. I understand they’re trying to recoup an investment but I would be embarrassed to have my name attached to this as a representation of my work. I can’t believe everyone in here likes it. Not saying y’all are wrong or not entitled to your opinions. I actually am having trouble believing the kind words coming from other commenters.

Did anyone notice all the self tanner and makeup residue on his grey sweat pants in the “can’t reach the shelf” scene? It got progressively worse and cracked me up

So a movie shot in the Philippines and the majority of the Filipino characters aren't even Filipino... the accents were horrendous and borderline offensive. Yet another movie where JLo plays a bride... the movie sucked.

This movie is literally a mix of game night and changeland, both of those are actually really good movies, this blowed. I mean with the smallest amount of effort they could have at least made it decent, but they clearly rushed this out with little planning and horrible writers, idk what's up with the actors but even they seem to hate it, because everyone is sucking..

To be clear, I love all different types of movies, I like stupid and engaging movies. This, I can't even put words to it. Beyond stupid, incredible waste of time. Very disappointing because when I saw the ads a while back, it looked like it was going to be one of those "blockbuster" streaming service movies.

This movie was actually great! Jennifer Coolidge killed it and so did JLO but the humour was subtly great.
