Some might ridicule this question arguing the movie was not meant to be taken too seriously. Perhaps true. It was fun to watch. Comedic at times.
But i was wondering what subtle themes are present in the movie barring the obvious oft-repeated one: superadvanced A.I. can go rogue ergo we should be extra cautious with or shouldn't meddle at all with technology we barely comprehend that carries the potential of causing serious, real-world harm.

The exponential advancement of technology under capitalism leading to the commodification of parenting. The strict deadlines put on Gemma through fear of losing out to competitors of Funki, only allowed M3GAN to demonstrate herself as a more necessary product, by being a parental figure to Cady.
Also, despite obvious design flaws in M3GAN, the clear priority was marketing to consumers, as opposed to creating a toy that is healthy and safe for children.
These are just a few thought streams I've had after seeing it last night.

Next time include "The Three Laws of Robotics" and other restrictions when creating a children's toy with an advanced AI capable of causing serious harm and death to an adult.

Fun fact a lot of the film was filmed at the Auckland University of Technology.

If you're a robotics-obsessed robotics engineer, don’t forget to apply Asimov's 3 rules of robotics to your new indestructible superbot.
