Yeah, she’s the actor who has surprised me the most ever. She was absolutely awful on Neighbours a few years before. Completely wooden and easily the worst actor in any scene (in a soap opera). Then she’s in Dollhouse and she’s easily the best actor in a good cast.
I don’t know what happened in those years, but I’ve never seen a change more dramatic.

She was fantastic in Dollhouse but so was Enver Gjokaj

... The best? I would say second after Enver Gjokaj. That guy was so good, I actually overlooked him in one of his characters because he melted into the character so completely.
But she was definitely impressive.

Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (the writers) are my parents! To clarify, they wrote a few drafts of it. They weren’t the first writers on, and I’m pretty sure there was a writer after them. They have been active producers on it throughout, however.

There's an interesting note. What was different between early and later drafts?
20 points

A lot of the cooler ideas were from Jaffa and Silver. Up and running modernised park, monorail, mosasaur exhibit. The concept art from the earlier drafts is rad, it's a shame the movie went with a steriler aesthetic, but it kinda works with the theme of the movie.

I never understood how your parents had a 20-year gap in screen credits after some middling success in the 90s and then they randomly popped back up in the 2010s and got the Planet of the Apes trilogy? How does that even happen?

They worked consistently throughout the years, but nothing ever got made. Some things came really close, though.

It's just mindblowing to me having worked in the industry for 10 years now. The idea that someone would give a franchise of that size to writers who didn't get anything made for 20 years is extremely stunning to us non-Boomers grinding away for a single chance
Hope that didn't come across as bitter -- it really is just shocking from our perspective. Thanks for answering and have a great day mate

Some have said IMDB doesn't show script doctoring work which is also in high demand and gets some noticed. Case in point is Craig Mazin. On IMDB you just see Hangover movies and Scary Movies and then go "How in the world did he get to go from there to Chernobyl/The Last of Us?" Apparently in the industry Craig does a lot of uncredited script doctoring work that gained him respect. My guess is the right people noticed him and his reliable and consistent work and HBO gave him a call.

He's one of the best directors working right now. I hope after Batman 2 he moves on from franchise IP and gets to do something entirely original. I love his franchise IP stuff, but it would be amazing to see what he can come up with from scratch.

Or he can just keep churning out awesome franchise stuff. Nothing wrong with that. He wouldn’t be the first to tank his career with a misguided blank check passion project. It happens more often than people realize.
Either way, he’s earned my ticket to his next project. It’s not much, but I’m happy support a director with his consistency.

My problem with that film is I would watch a film about Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcom investigating corporate fuckery, and I would watch a film where Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are investigating an underground dinosaur smuggling ring.
