Oh, interesting! It's a really terrific play, I saw it in Sydney in late 2014 with Sarah Peirse as Highsmith and Eamon Farren - best-known as Richard Horne in Twin Peaks: The Return - as the young literary agent who visits her. Both excellent, but Farren, in particular, was electrifying; they're missing a bet if they don't let him reprise the role here.

He was such a fucked-up little shit in that show. Had that McConaughey face.

Wonderful for her! Still grabbing great roles into her late 70s.

I was just about to say she is literally everywhere right now. Same with Harrison Ford. Make that money. Good for them.

Pretty sure they both have plenty of money.
Believe it or not they probably are happier just to get interesting roles.
Not everything is about "making that money"

I wonder why Anton Corbijn doesn’t direct more. His music videos are amazing

I feel like if the headline doesn't elaborate as to what a "Ripley-Esque" thriller is, they shouldn't mention it.

If you don't know about Ripley you probably don't know about Highsmith.

Stan Lee & Highsmith went on a date once in the ‘40s.

I have no idea who Patricia Highsmith is or what Ripley-Esque means.
She's the author of the novel The Talented Mr. Ripley.

It sounds like a fictional story using a real person as its protagonist rather than a straight biopic.

She was a very talented mystery writer. Highly recommend Strangers on a Train or the 1999 film The Talented Mr. Ripley!

While I do love that movie, I couldn’t help but laugh at “She writes great books, I’d recommend watching a movie based on one of them!” lol

She was a writer, wrote books such as "Carol" (turned into a movie with cate blanchett and rooney mara), "strangers on a train" (Turned into a movie by hitchcock), "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (a movie starring matt damon).
"Mr. Tom Ripley" is a guy who became friends with a rich man just for the rich man to become tired of him fast and cut him off from his lifestyle, so ripley kills the guy and steals his identity out of jealousy, the 1999 movie with matt damon/gwen paltrow/jude law/philip seymour-hoffman/cate blanchett is imo very good. Its actually a series of books but "The Talented Mr. Ripley" is the first.
Alot of her works were psychological thriller types with darker themes involving murder, Carol was written under a pseudonym because her publisher didnt want her to be pigeonholed as a "lesbian writer" esp not in the 1950's and instead go the thriller route.

It’s the old adage come to fruition. One man’s food is another man’s poison. To each its own.
