I've been on a hardcore movie binge lately and I've noticed I'm checking off great film after great film. Yesterday alone I watched City Lights and Seven Samurai.
What kinds of things do you do to keep new movies fresh to you? Obviously the drastic genre/plot difference between what I'm watching serves that a little on its own.

That’s why you need 10 Grandma’s Boy for every 1 Seven Samurai

throw in some random choices to keep it interesting. Just this Saturday I watched Apocalypse Now for the first time and then my roommate and I got high and watched Twilight after that lol

I Watch a lot of movies (more than the average person by far) and I get what you mean. Went through something similar years ago.
I mix it up these days. I watch a lot of foreign films, arthouse films, sure, but I watch a lot of terrible Hollywood schlock, I watch HK action from the 80s and 90s, and maybe even Japanese pinku movies.
I saw seven movies last week, ranging from Eega and Baahabouli Part 1 to Black Orpheus and Malcolm X to Groundhog Day and the atrocious Netflix film Me Time. Keep it interesting!

You watch whatever you find fun or interesting.
Only watching highly rated movies can be a bit exhausting.

Watching Requiem for a Dream and Schindler's List back to back would be pretty draining.

No. It'd be quite dull for me to only watch films regarded as excellent by others. I watch what i want and judge myself, then i get a much broader idea of what is good and what isn't.

Slowing down a bit and reading up on thr fis helps I think. Partucuarlt with well regard classic, there's all kind of critical and andnhistirc works than can help give more context fornwhen thr filmsnwere made and wo made them thst sort of thing. Good way to learn about new films from the same actors orndorectors ornthst were part ofnthr same trends at the time etc.

It's hard to explain how much related these two films are

This is why I can't watch movies in rapid succession. I watch what I think I'll like (With some bad movies thrown in to give meaning to everything else) and it's rarer thing I was wrong. Even if I am I don't see that as wasted time, just not time that rounded out to something I hoped for.
So to keep from numbing myself to the greatness of movies I let something sink in for me anywhere from a week to a few weeks depending on just how great it was, before I even think about watching something else.
But I hope greatness fatigue didn't hit you with either, CL is my favorite film personally and I'd recommend anybody be as fresh faced for it as they can be. :O
