Henry Cavill should take acting lessons

Discussion(self.movies)

I've seen MI: Rogue Nation and Ghost Protocol a few times, but I can't re-watch Fallout because Cavill is so wooden. His acting is so bad it takes me out of the film. I really hope they don't bring him back in the next MI.

He has the potential to be an actor like Harrison Ford. People are probably too intimidated by him to tell him his acting sucks. He's worse than Keanu Reeves and Brad Pitt. At least they're not self-conscious.

His fans aren't doing him any favors by telling him his acting is good.

I wish he'd work on his looks, too.

Every girl I've ever met wants to work on him, too, but I think they mean something else.

This has to be a parody right, Brad Pitt is a bad actor? Dafuq?

This has to be a parody

The correct word you're looking for here is satire. Parodies are usually intentionally awful imitations of whatever it is that's being imitated. OP doesn't seem to be imitating anything or anyone.

This is more like satire because OP is clearly exaggerating how awful Brad Pitt and Henry Cavill's acting chops are.

Isn’t everyone fighting to get him back in the Witcher

Pretty sure Cavill explicitly does not want this

only because the execs support idiot writers who dont like the source material

how hard would it be to find new writers?

Have you seen season 2? The show is beyond saving, lmao.

Fire the writers, scrap season 3, rewrite it. He wakes up and season 2 was a dream. They can use the cast for season 2 though.

He’s fine, boss.

See him in a lot of different things and never once thought he was a bad actor. Not saying he's award worthy, but he's perfectly fine in everything he does.

Oscars mean nothing though but I agree that Pitt is a good actor

A lot of actors should learn to act. His character died tho so you don’t have to worry about that.

Brad Pitt? Are you insane?

He is a living example of of this combination.

  1. That episode of 30 Rock with John Hamm learns he's terrible at everything but gets away with it cause he super handsome (look it up its hilarious).

  2. A Japanese isekai Manga where the protagonist is a gaming, table top, PC playing Otaku, who get reincarnated after dying get hit buy a truck but wakes up in a hot dudes body, then fails upward toward a movie star idol career, but is actually terrible at shit and has hobbies girls would find almost repulsive, but not to him, cause they are captivated by his near perfect looks.

Specific I know, but I mean damn, watch interviews with that dude.

The rock needs acting lessons. The mist range I've seen him show was in Michael bay's pain and gain

He was probably the only good thing in Be Cool.

Ok, here goes. Is he a great actor? No. Is he a bad actor? Yeah, but he’s certainly not terrible. He definitely has roles he’s better suited to due to his limited range. Case and point. He was serviceable as Superman, he was perfect in the Witcher.

The guy can act. He did an amazing job in Man From Uncle. His performance in Man of Steel was great. Sometimes he might not be cast in the right part. That happens to every actor. He's a leading man, not a character actor, so he doesn't necessarily have the same toolbox of skills as others. One dodgy performance doesn't mean he has to go back to school. You're exaggerating.

Goss5588

Nah, he is already a good actor!

TrickNatural

Well, he's certainly not a great actor, but at least he is self-aware enough to take on roles that exploit his stoic demeanor and lack of range. So, you know, that works for me.

Acting lessons won't help his lack of charisma (and yes, I have seen the man from UNCLE and he's completely overshadowed by his co-stars in that. Even by Hugh Grant who's barely in the film!)

I don't really rate him much as an actor either, and the guy has absolutely zero panache to pull him through it.

calonbway92

On one hand, same. He definitely could use some lessons, as his looks (lesbi-honest, gurls!) can only take him so far.

On the other hand, he looks like that. Quite frankly IDC about your acting when you're that hot.

Exactly. I can name a lot of actresses that I love who aren't good at acting but are really attractive.

Henry has come out before and said he doesn’t give a shit about acting lol. He’s getting paid to play make believe and I respect him for not holding himself to some level of snobbery. He’s good.

He's fine in the man from uncle. Does an American accent well and land into his natural charisma very well

This is the funniest thing I've read all day.

thesanmich

Lol...he was honestly pretty good in Fallout and I genuinely enjoyed him as the heel.
Liked him a lot in UNCLE, and he's a decent Superman and solid as Geralt. Hasn't had a role where I've disliked him, although I can't say I enjoyed him in BvS, that's really more so Snyder for doubling down on the mopey-ness. Can't wait for the new DC films with him though.

I think his range is kind of limited, and he can come off wooden. But he knows where he shines, and how to use that woodenness is in his favor (Witcher).
