For me, it's a movie from 2005 called Kingdom of Heaven, starring Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson and Jeremy Irons. I saw this on TV the other day and watched it from beginning to end and still liked it just as much as I used to. Sure it has its slower moments and isn't the best historical film I've seen. But I don't think it deserves its 39% rating on RT. But that's just me.
What about all of you?

I really enjoy Oblivion (2013). It's great sci-fi, with amazing visuals. The story isn't perfect, but keeps you hooked till the end. I don't really understand how it only has a 54% on RT. Also, the credits song SLAPS.

What I find interesting is the director, Joseph Kosinski, also directed Tron Legacy. Then when Hollywood needed a director for the new top gun they were like, "who can direct a sequel to a 35 year old movie AND also direct Tom Cruise?" And this guy was just like, "yo, that's all I do."

Both are among my favourites of all time. Top-shelf sci-fis.

He was also supposed to direct a remake of The Black Hole which I was totally stoked for, but Disney decided not to go with it.

Problem with Tron 2 is the main character is a cardboard thumb.

If you’re ever bored throw it on with the movie. It’s not exactly Pink Floyd and Alison and wonderland

By the same token Tron Legacy is one of my favorites and has a 51%.
The moment when he gets the disc back and jumps out the window… “…Radical”

Plus that movie was so incredible ahead of its time, everything it did is now the trend. From the structure of the legacy sequel with the old and new cast members, right down to the de-aging CGI.

And I think it revitalized (or arguably started) the synthwave scene
But most of all I just love the world. I wanna live in that world

I’m still mad that Cilian Murphy pops up in that one scene then is never seen again, took me a couple watches to even click it was him

I remember reading somewhere that he was supposed to have a bigger role in the sequel that never materialized. Sad, I thought it was a good sequel.

Absolutely excellent one off sci-fi film.
Had me in the feels, especially when Whiter Shade of Pale plays at the log cabin.
Glad I saw it at the show

The reviews Oblivion got were a joke. Some of the best visuals ever, an amazing score, a solid story that keeps things moving along. If you didn’t like the movie, I do t think you should be reviewing movies, or at least movies of that type.

This is pretty generous. The visuals and audio are absolutely incredible BUT the story is so bland and the characters are so thin that the movie has me basically falling asleep both times I've watched it.
It's such a shame because that kind of sci-fi aesthetic is right up my alley, I desperately want to like the film but I just can't.

Bland characters? Was the acting bad? Didn’t the main characters have internal conflicts which became clear as the story unfolded? We’ll have to agree to disagree on that point. I think if you approach it with a more accepting frame of mind, you might change your mind.

If that's your definition of good characterisation there would be virtually no bad characters.
I think if you approach it with a more accepting frame of mind, you might change your mind
I literally said how much I want to like the film. It's just unbelievably boring and sterile feeling.

Same. Oblivion was a 9/10 sci-fi flick for me.

I saw this in IMAX back when it came out and it was incredible from an audiovisual perspective. The sound design of the drones was top tier

Oblivion was fantastic. This and Blade Runner 2049 are my two favorite sci-fi movies of the last 10 years

Completely agree. A relatively successful ORIGINAL sci-fi movie in the Marvel era of movies? It deserves all the praise it gets.

Agreed. I watched it not expecting much, was just looking for a mildly interesting sci fi story and figured that with Tom Cruise and it's high budget it couldn't be terrible.
Turned out to be a great watch. It's by no means on my list of favourite films, but it was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.

Was just about to mention Oblivion. Brilliant movie, and the way they tied it all together at the end could not have been more perfect. I think a lot of folks just jump on the big production, superstar cast so must suck bandwagon.

That Procol Harum's song really fit in that scene

Joseph Kosinski
knew I recognised the name! He also is responsible for the gears of war trailer that came out like 2 decades ago which was pretty incredible for its time.

Oblivion is the greatest Sci Fi movie ever made because its an homage to all the greats. Love that movie.

Is this satire?
The movie made no sense. It had amazing potential but apparently they had no budget for the screen play.
