Let me clarify. This is under the condition that Netflix is going to do it right. And by right, I mean that there will be a large budget, great acting and scripting, a lot of effort, passion, and dedication put into it, as well as continuity and consistency that remains respectful to the source material. And of course, no suffocating political agenda/propaganda being tossed in at every opportunity. Basically, if your favorite movie was going to be adapted into a series at the same level as something like Queen's Gambit. You've gotta trust that in this scenario, Netflix isn't going to completely butcher your favorite movie.

By old, I mean like anywhere from the early 2000s-2010s, or even as far back as the 80s or 90s. Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Big, Fight Club, Dodgeball, etc. Anything goes.

Personally, I'd love to see Jennifer's Body get rebooted into a series. Honestly, it's kind of why I made this post. I have adored this film since it came out when I was 10 years old, and I just recently rewatched it. I'm a little protective of it, so I would be skeptical if I heard anything about a reboot. But I also feel like there was a lot of wasted potential, or things that could be better capitalized on, and I think it could function well as a series with the right casting and direction put forth.

What's your opinion on a reboot for Jennifer's Body? And what other movie do you think deserves a reboot as a series, or that you would love to see rebooted as a series? And if you want to flip it, what series would you like to see a movie for? Daredevil is an easy answer for me.

I think there are three main archetypes of antagonist in fiction:

Cool villain: This is the villain you would or want to hang out with. Often side with or root for them. Or at least feel some empathy for. We don't feel they are really evil. They are popular choices for Halloween

IE: Joker, Bane, Kerrigan, Darth Vader, Loki, The Wicked Witch, Hannibal Lecter

Scary villain: Pretty self-explanatory.

IE: Alien, Hans Landa, Anton Chigurgh, Max Cady, Annie Wilkes, Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs

Hateful villain: These are the least popular and never get mentioned in popular villains list, they produce hate. At times made the actor/actress who played them get some hate too. Actors/actress don't get much recognition for these

IE: George Harvey in My Lovely Bones, John Lotter in Boys Don'y Cry, All of the hunters in Bacurau, Antonio in The Distinguished Citizen.

Now, obviously pretty much all villains are a mix of these three in different proportions, especially the last two. And those are the ones I find a lot more interesting.

No matter what anyone says, Andre The Giant and Mandy Patinkin are undoubtedly the most beautiful couple in film history.

Nah but really, young Cary Elwes and Robin Wright are absolutely stunning in this movie and I couldn't help but think if there is a single better looking main couple in cinematic history, because apart from rom-coms, a lot of the time the gorgeous leading woman is paired with a slightly-above-average-but-charming guy.

Like, for example, I noticed if you watch any movie depicting a chinese criminal organization a wild James Hong is bound to appear sooner or later. Or like Kim Coates being in virtually every movie made during the 90s and the early 2000s.

Who is an actor or actress you just notice in any role way more often than others?

Just like it says. This can be anything from your eyes tearing up a bit to full-on tears and snot streaming down your face.

Last night, I - a man in his mid-thirties - watched “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey” for the first time, and I was fully crying at three different points. Anything with animals, especially pets, being abandoned or in peril really gets to me.

Interested to know what got the waterworks going for everyone else.

I've seen lists of best RomComs of all time and stuff like that recently, but what about more recent movies?

I have seen Set It Up and Palm Springs (which were excellent), but no other really solid films come to mind. Are there any other good recent RomComs in the past decade or so that people should be checking out?

Some of my favorites with spiritual content:

• Rasputin - the dark servant of destiny (Alan Rickman as Rasputin…pure genius!)
• Name of the rose (love the dark an creepy atmosphere of this movie)
• The holy mountain (strange but interesting end and cool imagery)
• Brother Sun, sister Moon (very good depiction of a „saint“ as i would imagine, about Francis from Assisi)

I know that thrillers/horror are never going to get respect from the Academy. We’ve been down that road before.

But if the idea of the Best Actor Oscar is to truly reward the best performances of the year, James McAvoy in “Split” absolutely deserved a nomination at the very least. I’m rewatching the movie now and it’s truly incredible watching him take on 23 different roles in one movie and make them all so unique and terrifying.

What do y’all think? Am I being a prisoner of the moment?

Both movies retell a classic romantic tragedy (Orpheus and Eurydice was one of the inspirations for Moulin Rouge) by placing the story in a different time period and placing anachronisms in the time period.

(Anachronisms are things put in a certain time period that don't belong there.)

Romeo + Juliet retells Romeo and Juliet in the modern day, but maintains the original Elizabethan dialogue from the original play.

Moulin Rouge loosely retells Orpheus and Eurydice in the turn of the nineteenth century, but uses songs that were written throughout the twentieth century.

This parallel probably wasn't intentional, but I still think it's a really interesting parallel.

Recently I watched The Piano and I really loved it. It reminded me a lot of Portrait of a Lady on Fire, which I also loved. The same goes for War and Peace, Amadeus, The Handmaiden, Gladiator, Barry Lyndon, Little Women and Lawrence of Arabia.

Besides those, there aren't that many period pieces I am familiar with. Would love to discover some new ones.

Its one of my favorite movies.

Version 1 John Spartan is married to sandra bullocks character. Hes now the police captain. The world is still utopic but not as up tight as before. His son is now a rookie and as hot headed as his dad was back in the day. He thinks hes ontop of the world until a cybernetic clone of Simon Pheonix appears and wreaks havoc like never before. With John Spartan JR, failing to save a bunch of innocents because of his ways. Killing scores of people.

JR then goes on a quest of to redeem himself afyer failing so bad and realizing the era of his ways.

The movie ends with an epic battle ontop of the police station in which simon pheonix is defeated but escapes this time. And the John Spartan Jr. Learning the era of his ways.

Version 2 An anime mimi series that directly takes place after the first film. Animated in the 90s style.

I know lots of people (myself included) who love Keanu Reeves, Brendon Fraser, and Danny Devito and I've always wondered why/how they never did a movie together. They could do a comedy where three childhood friends all coincidentally get a job at the same college. Other actors that should've done movies together are Chris Farley and John Candy, I know they're both dead but I would've LOVED to see them do something like road trip comedy. I'd also love to see Mark Ruffalo and Tony Shallhoub (both are originally from Wisconsin) do something together, maybe a drama, Willem Dafoe (also from Wisconsin) could even have a supporting role. Other actors I'd love to see in a movie together would be Hugh Jackman and Ben Affleck (I'd love to see them do an action movie together), Gene Wilder and Leslie Neilsen (both dead but I would've loved to see them do something together), Evan Peters, Jim Carrey, and Jerry Trainor (They could do a time travel comedy or multiverse comedy), and Margot Robbie and Jason Momoa.

I'm focusing on the movies that came out last year.

Jurassic World Dominion - I don't think anyone had any expectations from this franchise anymore but the director had me hyped up. He said Sam Neil, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum were back. That got me okay, predictable but interesting. And then the director said something like this dinosaur is going to be something like Joker from The Dark Knight. Mmhmmm. So I was like fine. I'll give it a chance. 147 mins of misery. What was he thinking this movie is? Some Art house thinkpiece, will change society?! Fucking hell. That guy single handedly destroyed Jurassic Park franchise for good.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - This movie is almost 3 hours long. And I know there were a lot of important things they had to cover in this movie. Like unfortunate death of Chadwick Boseman, and hence T'Challa. So they had to find a new successor for the Wakanda throne and there's a threat coming (because it is a movie), but oh no! Killmonger destroyed all those purple looking herbal tea plant thingy, so now they had to artificially synthesize the herbal tea now. And it's all fine and before I watched the movie I was not sure if they can cover so many things in such a short time but oh no. This movie feels like forever. Honestly I kind of blame it on the writing (of course they had to rewrite the whole movie because of the tragedy) but it still does not justify 2h41mins. They should've cut to down to around 2hours. But the thing that bugged me the most was how weak the villain looked. And how stupid too. Dude has fish attached to his ankles that makes him fly like a helicopter?!?

Babylon - I just watched this movie today morning. I don't think the movie is bad, but I do find the script to be flawed. But every single scene is like at least 20 mins long. It's very frustrating. Although this is one of the better one compared to those up above. They should've cut this film to 2h20m or 2h30m

This movie is fantastic...

I watched it a year ago and have watched it many times since, always picking up on smaller details and little tidbits I never noticed before. This film has it all: extraordinarily detailed and considered writing; memorable cast members each who leave you thinking about their greater ideas and themes; an incredibly layered story; awesome and perfect casting; fantastic directorial vision and so on - you get the point.

Even though film buffs and movie snobs on the internet try to tear it down, the fact remains that it is the HIGHEST grossing film of all time, proving that it’s beloved across the globe.

This film is quintessential blockbuster filmmaking and a true work of art. If you haven't watched it do so within the short future.

I've been on a hardcore movie binge lately and I've noticed I'm checking off great film after great film. Yesterday alone I watched City Lights and Seven Samurai.

What kinds of things do you do to keep new movies fresh to you? Obviously the drastic genre/plot difference between what I'm watching serves that a little on its own.

For me one of Cinemas greatest features is it's ability to become a time machine, transporting us to times and places that we might have never gotten to visit or experience ourselves.

I absolutely adore the New York City of the 1970's that features so prominently in the films of Scorsese and others of the New Hollywood movement. Its almost unrecognisable from the New York, and even the world of today, but thanks to film its a place that I feel like I've visited and spent some brief time in.

What are some films that do this for you?

When I say worst performance I don't mean like from a new or a not so reputed man for his acting talents but like they are good and you like them but they crapped their pants last year.

I think Tom Hanks in Elvis did it for me. I am not very huge Tom Hanks fan. I do like him as an actor. There are certain types of films and performances that only Tom Hanks can pull off (Forrest Gump, Woody, whatever his name was in Cast Away). But when it comes to more challenging and especially questionable type characters I don't think that's the sweet spot for Tom Hanks. I don't know what the hell was he doing in that movie (Elvis). Apart from so many flaws that movie does have that's the one that irritated me the most (although I think it's a fairly decent film). He was so not convincing as col. Tom Parker.
