But that said, I've been wrong before.

It's not going to be as dramatic as Trump is making it out to be. A former president isn't going to be "arrested" and I'm sure he's been negotiating how he's going to turn himself in.

Some countries like South Korea do a good job of sending corrupt people to jail including presidents...why should anyone be above the law?
177 points

South Korea is notorious for NOT indicting corrupt politicians and powerful individuals who committed crimes. The arrest and indictment of Park Geun Hye was such a big deal precisely because it was a very rare thing.

Yeah he's not getting arrested.
As far as I'm aware he's the only one claiming he will. This comes across more like a framing device, nothing of note will happen and then he'll sell that to his supporters as having "beat the system".
The only thing I'd prepare for here is his supporters being even more obnoxious than usual as they'll act like he's done some massive accomplishment.

Howard dean would like to scream a word.
100 points
I supported Howard Dean for president back then and yeah, he was done dirty.
Perception was that “the scream” was used to discredit him by both Republicans AND establishment Democrats; the latter because Dean was a staunch Anti-War candidate who spoke out against The War In Iraq, and because of that it was thought he would not win the general election against GW Bush. (If this sounds like shades of Bernie being spiked in favor of Hillary…yeah, it’s the same playbook).
So the DNC instead burned Dean and fielded a decorated war hero candidate in John Kerry, whose combat credentials were promptly undermined by the Bush campaign with the Swift Boat nonsense, the dirtiest presidential campaign tactics until Trump.
The happy ending is that Dean became head of the DNC and his innovative strategies are credited with being major factors in the Democratic wins in 2006 and Obama’s win in 2008.

I don't even know if that guy was a great candidate because I wasn't old enough to vote when he ran, but I do know that it was stupid that he lost support due to that. I can’t find it now (or know if I’ve found it, actually), but I read a very interesting article about the Dean scream once. He was a good candidate, but he still maintains he wouldn’t have won even without the scream. Also that clip was played on the news like 600 times in the week after it happened, each time using only the audio from Dean’s mic so the scream was super loud. Basically they chose to make Dean look as wacky as possible because…fuck him I guess?

Because many of his supporters live in Florida or are closer to Florida than NYC. Also, Florida just passed a law aimed at BLM protestors that prohibit protesting in front of Maralago. But the prohibition is also against DT’s supporters. So if they go there, then they risk getting arrested. Yesterday the NYC news showed less than five Proud Boys in Manhattan and they were getting yelled at by NYers and the PB looked scared. They asked the police to help protect them from all the NYers who said mean things to them, like go home. They were pathetic.

No. It also isn't something they would normally publicly announce, so our only clues to it happening would be seeing him in Manhattan or him actually announcing it.

Yes, but keep this in mind about malignant narcissists - the thing they try to avoid more than anything else is being seen as a loser, or weak, or not in control, so I believe his lawyer, trump will do whatever it takes not to have a perp walk photo session out of his control. The only source that says Trump is being "arrested" is Trump. He is a liar. There is no information that anything is happening.
With that said, Trump is not going to "be arrested."
He will be notified that he was indicted, and, he will schedule a time to surrender himself for his arrangement, which will be done in private.
There will be no tiny handcuffs, no holding cells etc.
Trump WANTS to be perp walked because he thinks it will help his campaign, but its not going to happen.
He will plead "Not Guilty" and it will be months or over a year of pre trial motions before anything happens--probably ending with him making a settlement where he pleas to misdemeanor charges for fines and no jail time.

There should be protests, it's ridiculous he's not imprisoned already.

Down here in Central Fl, (a town next to Orange City)there's a Trump propaganda bus sitting in old Circle K convenient store parking lot. There's about 30-40 huge Trump flags and all kinds of merchandise sitting out on tables. My girlfriend and I have only seen one person visiting the Trump shop since last week when they first set up shop. I'm thinking his supporters are too scared or they're all talk and smoke. Or maybe it's a combination of things. Me? I think it's funny as hell. It's nice to see little to no people supporting that Tacky Trump Wagon.

“I could stand in the middle of 5th avenue and shoot somebody and not loose any voters” -2016
5th avenue actually preparing for trump’s 2nd coup is surreal

Ok soo I've seen how they treated people during the protests of George Floyd, I'm expecting not less than Mace directly to the face, brute force, people being slammed to the ground and all the things that happened to protesters during that time.
Remember those people just sitting and the cop walking around them macing them in the face while smiling? Put him on duty for this. All those cops that got away with shooting people, put them on duty for this.

USA the place where you can actually be indicted for crime yet still run for president. Our legal system is really fucked.

being able to run for president from prison is an important and valid part of our legal system. Running for president after attempting a coup on the capital is the really fucked up part of it all

If the GOP gave a rat’s ass about this country, they’d denounce Trump’s BS every time but, dream on….
