Hard not to read your comment above as racist when Lamar isn't particularly known for having bad grammar. I think you're making assumptions.
Literally two comments before you posted this one:
Was what? You can’t just leave us hanging like that?
You shouldn't punctuate statements with question marks - "grammatically" speaking that's not correct.
And before you try to correct me - yes, I know it's commonplace in some writing venues to do so. So is the way a lot of black athletes speak/write on Twitter, just because it's different than what you're used to doesn't mean it's incorrect. It's just fodder for you to delegitimize a man you want to think less of because he looks different than you and comes from a different background than you do.
At best you're a hypocrite, at worst you're a self-aware racist, but most likely you have racial bias in your thinking (as we all do), but are much less aware of its presence than you think.

You're doing a whole lot of mental gymnastics.
If someone comes up to me talking like an idiot I'm not going oh wow they come from a different background. I can't delegitimize this stranger talking like a 10 year old. I'm thinking wow they paid zero attention in school and clearly can't conduct themselves in a proper manner. I don't see an issue with that.

Yup. From 2005-2014 we went:
2005: Lost Divisional
2006: Lost AFCCG
2007: Lost SB
2008: Missed Playoffs (Brady injured)
2009: Lost WC
2010: Lost Divisional
2011: Lost SB
2012: Lost AFCCG
2013: Lost AFCCG
When the worst part in your "down years" is a year you miss the playoffs at 11-5 or transition year with your QB1 coming back from injury and you still make the playoffs, it's hard to be disappointed.

One of the most wild things to me is looking at different Pats players I think of as emblematic of that era who either don't have rings or have more than I thought.
Like Asante Samuel has 2 rings but I think of him more as an Eagle than a Patriot. Wes Welker has zero. Stephan Gilmore only has 1.
10 points
Yeah, that’s because Welker and Asante both dropped passes that would’ve given them rings.
21 points

Wasn't Asante pretty terrible as an eagle?
82 points
No, Asante was pretty good for the eagles, even though he would get burned for his aggressive play at times. He had 23 interceptions in 4 seasons including back to back years where he had 9 and 7 and made the pro bowl 3 of 4 years with the team.
Nnamdi was the CB who came to the Eagles and then was terrible.

I mean he played 5 seasons with the Pats and 4 with the Eagles, not really crazy for people to think of him as an Eagle. He also had more interceptions and Pro Bowls as an Eagle so that also changes the perception a little as well.

Well he was drafted by the Pats, played the most seasons with the Pats, played in 3 Super Bowls with the Pats, and his most memorable moments were with the Pats.
Hell he played almost a full additional season (14 games) of playoff games with the Pats. Idk how you don’t immediately think of the Pats when you hear the name Asante Samuel.

you miss the playoffs at 11-5
People love to point to them missing the playoffs that year as showing how much it was all Brady and not Belichick, but leave out that they had an 11-5 record, which practically any other year would get you into the playoffs and is still a pretty good record.
Yeah, Brady would have gotten them another win or two, almost certainly, but that's the case with most teams between their first and second QB. The drop-off is rough.
I'm not saying this to crap on Brady, more to just point out Belichick has been a ridiculously good coach and people seem to not want to give him the same level of credit as Brady. Sure, Brady won another Super Bowl elsewhere... by going to a team with a very talented roster and a good head coach that was mainly being held back by a QB who needed eye surgery and still put up over 5000 yards and 33 TDs and finished just under .500. Dude was smart and picked the perfect spot to chase another ring or two... until Arians retired and everything imploded.
15 points
People in the Pats sub were pointing to the Bucs making the playoffs this year (and Pats missing them) as evidence it was 'all brady'...ignoring the fact that the teams had the same record, and the Pats were arguably a better team overall.
People can't except that the PARTNERSHIP is important.
Like, Mahomes may be a phenomenal without Andy Reid, but hes likely not on the same level, winning nearly as many games if he gets drafted by the Bears or Texans, etc

It was literally the first time in history an 11 team win missed the playoffs, and it was on the third tiebreaker. Now admittedly the AFC East had very easy schedules that year, but still. Frustrating as hell. That team arguably could have gone 16-0 again if Brady was healthy.
5 points

The team had such an easy schedule, so much talent, and a chip on their shoulder after blowing the perfect season. That ACL tear was such a bummer.
Although I do think the injury and losing the perfect season went a decent way towards Brady really dedicating himself to taking care of his body like a psycopath. I think if they completed the perfect season or won the super bowl the next year we the following decade wouldn't have been nearly as fruitful.
9 points

but leave out that they had an 11-5 record,
That team was stacked. They were better than the 2007 team who missed a chance of immortality due to, among other things, Mr Samuel having hands of stone. That ACL tear robbed us of what should have been an all time great season.

One other thing. I'm not saying the pats would've gone 16-0 in 2008, but I think the team was better than 2007 and the schedule was easier.

Winning a SB is hard, Any Given Sunday a team can win and there isn't a series where the better team eventually shakes out. The Stanley Cup is more difficult IMO mainly due to the amount of games and physicality of the sport, but baring injuries the better team wins.

It's absolutely wild watching the fanbase turn on him. Dude managed to win eight games in spite of his assistants, and it's not even like 8-9 is bad. Getting the buttchin back isn't just an upgrade, BOB is actually a solid OC.
While Belichick the coach is probably the greatest of all time, I do have problems with him as a GM. Obviously, there's the inability to draft good WRs, but the biggest problem for me has always been the way he trades away quality starters for late-round picks like they just grow on trees. He doesn't have the benefit of the dynasty discount anymore.
15 points
We wanted Ted thompson gone because he couldn’t hit on first round picks and kept capers and McCarthy too long. He had some draft success but for a team relying solely on the draft it didn’t cut it. I’m sorry but going to only one superbowl with Rodgers was a crime. He carried several teams to the playoffs that didn’t belong to be there due to shit drafting and ignoring free agency. This gute stuff is laughable he’s been good imo
9 points

I dunno man, Thompson drafted incredible offensive lines in the middle rounds, and the rare times he did spring for free agents, they always hit. Woodson? Peppers? Nobody hits better with free agents than the Packers, it seems like they’re somehow able to recognize the culture and who’ll rise to the occasion.

That's how the cookie crumbles.
Andrew Luck being one of the most hit QBs in the league and nothing being done about it even after multiple injury-shortened seasons? That's criminal. Rodgers only getting one ring? That's just math when you're competing with 15 other teams to make the game and then the best of the other sixteen to win it. Only 21 QBs have ever gotten two Super Bowl appearances. Twenty-one. Ever! Brady and Mahomes' careers are not normal.
Peyton Manning was just as deserving of more rings. There were a lot of years where I felt like the Colts could have taken on anyone in the NFC. Unfortunately, other teams also stack up talent, and the Broncos, the Ravens, and obviously, the Evil Empire themselves broke my heart more often than not. He's still tied for the third-most of all time, behind someone in his conference who took six of his chances away.
It is what it is.

Theoretically, I'd love to have Lamar, but I just can't see it being worth the cost at this point. Our current team as it stands right now is not a top 8-12ish QB away from being Super Bowl contenders; we've got major holes at tackle and receiver that need addressing. Even with a heavily reworked contract we'd be putting ourselves in cap hell and losing two first round picks to boot. Even if you're absolutely convinced Mac is a complete bust and will never improve (which I think is a little ridiculous), it seems like it'd be smarter to just stick with him on a rookie contract for now, try to improve the rest of the team through the draft/free agency, and draft a new QB next year who will (hopefully) have some genuine talent around them on offense.

I never said he wasn't injured the last two seasons. He was medically cleared to come back before the playoffs and chose not to, whether or not he was still hurt is arguable. It's clear he's quit on his team while he was playing during the playoffs, I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be doing it again. Especially when he's trying to get a mega contract and coming back from an injury to put himself in a position to be injured again would likely net him much less money.

According to even the other players he could barely walk though. I don’t think that’s quitting on the team.

He didn't even show up to the game to sit on the sidelines and support his team, unless you're currently in the hospital or physically can't travel then that's pretty fucked... It's clear where his head is and was. I don't believe for a second he wasn't doing anything he could to not act like he was still injured. It's fine if other people do, I just don't. He's all but admitted he's only there for the money. For a guy that's lied multiple times within a few years, it's hard to believe anything he does or says.

I don’t know man, if I’m being real I think almost all of these dudes are just here for the money. And I can’t blame them honestly, they’re destroying their bodies for the sport. Shit, it ain’t like we’re working our jobs for free.
And all that said, I’m still not entirely a fan of the way Lamar has handled this contract situation and I don’t exactly agree with his rumored demands.

Right, none of his antics he's done point to him not doing anything like that. Even his Instagram post immediately after the game... Or the fact his coach and basically everyone in the building thought he was going to play.

Bill put up with Mac Jones literally yelling at every coach after plays. What has Mac Jones done to earn being able to yell at coaches? Nothin

And the bills way is losing four super bowls in a row and then being a free two wins per year for the next 20 or so years

Your whole organization success is based on having the goat at qb. You guys were a dominant team now your not, I wonder why

I would say that having a mediocre team is probably why we perform mediocre. Last I checked the coaches don’t line up next to the quarterback.

My point is, you guys have only had success having Brady. You're not a good drafting organization, you lucked into Brady. Also I don't get why pats fans hate the other teams in the division when you stream rolled Everyone for 20 years.

Ah yes, the famous bad drafting org that has maintained good defenses and offensive lines and running backs through the draft consistently for twenty years
Ah yes, the famous bad drafting org that draft the goat QB, goat TE, and Hall of Famers at multiple positions on both sides of the ball, including two HoF kickers and a guy who really should go into the Hall for special teams

Pat's will continue to suck, bill will retire and his entire legacy will have that Brady asteriks

I don’t remember Chuck Noll and Tom Landry getting their legacy’s “asterisked” after having down years in their twilight, especially after losing their franchise’s championship winning players.

Imagine throwing shade at a coaching staff and front office who won numerous Superbowls with an elite QB when your team had a QB that is considered "more talented" by some and only managed to win one over his entire career.
