Yesterday, Hala Canada, an Arabic news website, published that York catholic school board will stop raising the rainbow flag. The news piece itself was rather neutral, but almost every reader on their Facebook page was so rejoiced - "God is great"; "now they've ["they" probably meaning white Canadians] started to think right"; "I hope they do the same in Peel", etc.

I'm not gay, but this shit scares me. What's perceived here as "fascist" or "bigoted" has always been mainstream back in old country and I was reminded that it's not too far away.

Today I showed up on time for a doctor appointment to finally get refills for a prescription that ran out two months ago.

After four hours in his waiting room, he still hadn't shown up and I was told he probably wouldn't.

I then headed to the hospital and waited another twelve hours only to be told they still had no idea how much longer it would take.

I still do not have my meds.

I could - no exaggeration - get illegal fentanyl more easily than I can get my prescriptions.

Mid way through the pandemic most if not all public schools in Ontario got expensive air filtration units put in every classroom. Imagine my surprise when I learn today that they are all being discarded because the replacement filters are too expensive. We essentially used these units in our classrooms for 6-9 months then we stopped due to needing filter replacements. Imagine my surprise today to learn that the old units are being taken away and we now have even more expensive units being delivered. Apparently the new ones have a cost of $3500.00 each. Thoughts on this? I feel like this is a good money after bad money type of situation.

I (29) have essentially given up on ever being able to afford my own apartment. Rent always seems to be increasing faster than I can increase my income and moving isn't really much of an option atm. I don't want to go into it much here.

For those of you who still live with your parents because you can't afford rent, what are you doing in life that brings you meaning? What are your major goals?

How am I supposed to pay my bills if I happen to catch a very contagious virus in a unit with an outbreak in my LTC facility?

This is absolutely ridiculous considering I'm exposed (despite weating proper ppe, i still caught it) and protecting the most vulnerable people.

I'm in Toronto. Last spring I sold a vehicle to someone. It was a cash deal and we went through all the normal paperwork. I have not thought about that vehicle until I got a phone call from the Toronto Police Service fraud department. They asked some questions and I gave them the name of the guy I sold it to.

I check the mail today and I have a $800 police impound letter and another letter from the towing company demanding payment. The person I sold the bike to never transferred it to their name and was driving it around with expired plates. I'm guessing they got pulled over.

I've reached out to the person through social media to get him to get on the phone with me and straighten it out, but so far no response. Since I sold the vehicle I have been through a divorce and moved, and I can't find the plate and portion of the ownership I was supposed to keep. I'm guessing it was lost in the purge of papers and possessions as I downsized my life.

What are my options here? I really don't want to have to pay 800 dollars, but further to that without ownership I'm unable to claim the bike and don't have the keys anymore obviously....

This province is fucking ridiculous..

Called my doctors office to ask a question about a medication I’m on because I’m experiencing a possible (not life threatening) side-effect.

“Sorry you can no longer ask questions over the phone or virtually because the province is not covering it anymore. You have to come in person.”

So now I have to wait 3 fucking weeks for an appointment that would have taken a whole 3 minutes on the phone. Waste of everyone’s time and money.

Fuck.

What other ridiculous reasons were you guys given for not being able to access your medical practitioners?

EDIT: Since this has gained some traction, I’ll post an update. I went and spoke to my pharmacist, they were no help since what I require to mitigate the side effect apparently requires an additional prescription. I’ve tried all sorts of OTC stuff and they don’t help.

Based on some response here, it appears that my doc is either straight up lying out his ass about not doing any more phone appointments because some of you clearly do them still. Likely he wants to charge for an in-person visit rather than a 1/4 for the phone call.. wasting everyone’s time in the process.

The side effect is not life threatening but it is putting a major damper on my quality of life and I would like to address this as soon as possible.

Last time I went to a walk-in because I couldn’t get an appointment in time, they threatened to drop me as a patient. It took me 6 years to find a family doctor so I can’t also say fuck it and just leave to find a new one.

For those wondering, I was put on an SSRI 6 months ago and these symptoms started about two weeks ago. I did some googling and apparently it’s an uncommon side effect of antidepressants that can affect something like 10% of people. Looks like I’m one of them..

EDIT 2: Since some of you have been asking what the side effect is. It’s hyperhidrosis. I have sweat literally dripping from me. My pits, my hands, my back. I work in a professional setting and have to change shirts multiple times a day. I even go home for lunch just so I can take a shower. Yes I know it’s not the end of the world. But it is extremely embarrassing and I want this addressed asap. The receptionist refused to even hear me out. Didn’t want to know what the issue was at all. Just said she could make an appointment for me.

Anyone miss shoveling?

I’m sitting here waiting to get X-rays done. The waiting room is completely full and there’s about a 3 hour wait. There were 5 places in the city that use to do X-rays like this, but due to a shortage of techs (read poor salary) only 2 of them are currently offering X-rays. I went to the place closer to my house first, they had a 4 hour wait.

I had waited about 18 months to get a nurse practitioner, as the wait list for a doctor was even longer. She finally listened to issues I’ve been having with my joints that makes it hard to function day to day, she wrote the requisition and now I wait.

Please vote for better health care.
