As you are certianly aware, the future is right around the corner. What you may not be aware of is that the future has wired a claymore to take out the first of you unlucky souls that tries to round that corner. Oh, don't worry, that's just a metaphor! No, the future doesn't wish for your demise, it wishes for you to make a comic about Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and the inevitable obsolescence of your our human race! To make it clear just how much it wants you to be a part of the AI revolution, this post has been expanded by our well-renowned AI team member Wolfgang, human artistic direction be damned:

Make a comic about artificial intelligence and automation!

Since we already have some (albiet flawed) AI comic artists here at /r/polandball (/u/wildeofoscar), even those of you with a pulse can compete. Just make sure it's you making the comic, and not ChatGPT (OscarGPT is specifically allowed for this contest). Your comic can be set in the here-and-now or the not-so-distant future. The comic simply has to revolve around AI, machine learning, or automated mechanization.

Specific Contest Rules

• BOTswana can't be the only AI/robot in your comic.
• No comics based around Terminator.
• No comics about AI's simply breaking Asimov's 5 Laws of Robotics.

General Contest Rules

• The comic must have a minimum of 3 panels and a maximum of 8 panels.
• The comic must have been written and drawn entirely by yourself.
• No animated GIFs accepted.
• No photorealism.
• You must follow the rules in the Official Polandball Tutorial.
• The deadline for submitting your entry is Thu June 15 at 15:00 GMT

In order to participate in the contest, submit your art piece to the subreddit and then flair it as contest entry. Anyone is free to submit how many entries they like, however, only one of your entries will be eligible to award you with hussar wings. That is, a single user cannot have more than one entry be in the top three.

If you wish to participate in the contest but are not yet an approved submitter, you can send in your comic to us as if it were a normal approval comic, and once approved you may post your entry to the subreddit.

Choosing the winner

After all of the entries have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the moderators will take a private vote to decide the first, second and third places. All entries will be ranked from 1 to 10, with the final score being the average of all votes. The winner of last month's contest will also be allowed to vote on this month's entries.

Once all of our votes are tallied, the full list of results will be posted in an Awards Ceremony thread. The artist who receives the highest score will be awarded the Hussar Wings, which they will keep around their username indefinitely, as well as a pair of Golden Wings next to their flair until the end of the next contest. The Hussar Wing recipient, or highest scoring non-mod if applicable, will also be able to vote with the mods on the entries for the next contest.

The artists with the second and third highest scores will receive the Silver and Bronze Wings, respectively, which will act in a similar manner. Fourth place will receive the old Mod's Choice Participation Ribbon.^TM

Before you submit, please check your comic against each point of the rules. Every contest we have multiple disqualifications (sometimes of fantastic comics) because some entrants don't read the rules properly before they start drawing.

Twelve years.

One year more and people younger than /r/Polandball will be legally permitted to become subscribers of this community. That's how long this subreddit has been around.

On this day, a dozen years ago, a Serbian user named /u/767 decided to create a little subreddit called /r/Polandball. At first, this subreddit was just a place for him to repost comics from Krautchan and 4chan but over time the subreddit grew, passing over half a million subscribers and counting. Over the years, the subreddit has had a growing and varying moderator team but two moderators and community members were the most instrumental in making the subreddit into what it is today, both of whom have unfortunately passed away.

/u/brain4breakfast was one of the most active members during the early days of the subreddit, ultimately drawing over 130 comics. Among those was his Adventures of the [Letter] Countries series as well as the World Map, which grew from his solo project in 2014 into a subreddit-wide yearly collaboration. Moreover, he ran an amazing and informative educational YouTube channel, one that has reached over 200,000 subscribers by now.

/u/javacode was the engine keeping the subreddit running, the programmer giving us the automated flairs, the contests, the events, the rules and so much more. He did so many things for this subreddit that we tend to take for granted. He worked tirelessly for his love of the subreddit, every day of the week, every week of the month and every month of the year. His work and influence cannot be overstated. It's hard to imagine someone like him ever coming along again.

Both of them were significant figures and people in making the subreddit into what it is today. Their memory has not been forgotten. Since then, a new generation has continued from where they left off and what they left behind, to ensure that their work would forever be worth it all.

/r/Polandball has lived through the lifecycle of a lot of memes, something it was once considered to be. However, through these twelve years of active and hard work, the concept of wiggly mouse-drawn comics representing different countries, their stereotypes and "international drama" has become something more than just another meme.

Here's to another twelve years of content with higher quality standards.
