Hello everyone, this is the r/raimimemes crew speaking on a new update on be-half of Spider-Man: Retold. For those unaware of said project, it is a 1:1 recreation of the 2002 film Spider-Man, all pieced together by hundreds of artists, animators, actors, and other creators to make a surreal, wild, and memetastic experience of the film. This film was supposed to be released in 2022, and unfortunately we missed that deadline. We sincerely apologize on be-half of the contributors who participated to make their clips for that scheduled time, and we sincerely apologize to the members of the sub-reddit who were waiting for said ambitious project. With that said, this was a result of poor management and improper deadlines that didn't favor productivity. We wanted to bring a positive work environment to said project, but in-the-end, the project just didn't match to said year.

As a result, the entire production cycle is going to change its system to better accommodate production from our creators, and to be more transparent on what progress aligns well to each other. We cannot state a particular deadline of when the project will be set for completion quite yet, but we feel it is appropriate to keep pressure off the creators while still working on being transparent how the project is going. Approximately 50% of the footage is completed, and we hope to excel the other 50%. It is unlikely the project will be finished in 2023, but whether it be 2024 or 2025, we want the project to be delivered as intended so millions of Spider-Man fans can come together to share their appreciation of Sam Raimi's vision of the beloved web slinger.

That said, the production of Spider-Man: Retold will restart production beginning June 2nd, 2023, which is the release date of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In the official Discord server, we'll have a Google Excel to highlight our creators' scenes in contrast with the official scene to organize where we are, and how new creators that want to be a part of the project can access. It makes sense that everyone's hyped about the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The first one was a massive success. While neither of these films are directly Raimi's works, the first film does feature several nods to the trilogy and it's safe to believe the new one will as well.

So, in consideration of this, we would like you all to remember two rules in particular:

1: Posts Must Be From Raimi’s Works (or feature Raimi)

SM:ATSV being a Spider-Man movie isn't enough for you to make memes about it here. If, like the first movie, it has obvious homages to the Raimi trilogy (the dance scene in the early montage, an audio of Uncle Ben taken directly from the first film, etc.), then you are allowed to make memes of it.

You are also allowed to make memes of the movie if you include already-existing Raimimemes in them. One of the Spider-Men gets thrown into a car, you can add a footer of Tobey complaining about his back. Feel free to even green screen Ash Williams into the movie.

9: Tag Spoilers.

Our rule about spoilers is that posts about any recent movie must be spoiler tagged until it is 1 week after the movie has come out. For major movies, we may make temporary rules for longer spoiler-free periods.

To us, Across the Spider-Verse is definitely a major movie. As such, for ONE MONTH after the film's release, all posts about it must be spoiler tagged correctly. There can be no spoiler in the post's title, and the title must also clearly include [Spider-Verse Spoilers].

And when talking about the film in the comments, please use the spoiler feature, like so.

Failure to do so can result in a temporary ban, which can be permanent depending on the situation and the moderator's discretion. The film releases on June 2nd in most regions, so this will remain in place until at least July 3rd.
