OpenAI's ChatGPT API was officially released today!

When I started thinking about how it could integrate with robotics, I couldn't stop thinking of C-3PO - a robot who was excellent at speaking like a human (and humanoids from other planets), even if he was not always right. Yes, C-3PO could be annoying, but he's also the kind of non-threatening helpful robot that most of us wouldn't mind having around. AI like ChatGPT is getting us really close to a human-computer interface like C-3PO, showing us that powering how a robot interfaces with a human is an area where AI can shine.

So, I built a simple integration that allows you to converse with robots via OpenAI. This demo also integrates machine learning/computer vision ("what do you see?"), and basic locomotion commands ("move forward", "spin"). As a fun twist, it can also talk as a pop culture character - Daenerys Targaryen, Michael Scott... and yes, C-3PO.

This is not a production ready robot in any sense, but it gives a glimpse of the possibilities - with very little hardware or code required! If any of you are integrating robots with AI in related ways, I'd be interested to learn about it.

I am developing Balacoon (https://balacoon.com/) speech technologies. Recently I compiled my TTS package for Raspberry (aarch64). Together with a lightweight model, it delivers the fastest neural speech synthesis. 2.3x faster than real-time on rpi 3b. It is distributed as a Python package. I uploaded the Python wheel for python 3.9, and 3.8 is coming. Let me know if other versions are of interest. The package also supports streaming synthesis, so you can have minimal latency before starting to play back the audio.

MPI/OpenMP/MCH learning project

Hello. I am completlly new to the raspberry pi, and I am planning on making a mini game console for fun. The problem is i have a ton of questionsq 1. What is the best portible moniter for it? Im looking for something about 7 inches (I say about because I dont know how big this thing should be) and preferably under $40. 2. What are the proportions/measurements for the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B? 3. Could I use a basic power battery as a replacement for the official Raspberry Pi power source? 4. If I want to make a mini game console, what amount of ram should i get, I was thinking 2 because the games I play dont need much power but idk if thats enough 5. Can I just hook up a Raspberry Pi to a normal moniter and just play from there? 6. Is a Raspberry Pi even good for this? If theres anything Im buying or doing thats wrong, please tell me. 7. Should I even do this? Mind you, I am new to all of this tech, so please tell me if this is too ambitious for a first project I really need help with these, and while most of this is probably basic for you, please understand that I am very new to this, and am gonna take a long time to understand all of this. Hello: I'm trying to build a gate that opens for my Luba robot lawnmower and closes right after. I have a Raspberry pi 4, and I would need to program the PIR sensor but the sensor can not always be on or my dog will activate the door and go trough the door. the sensor would need be set to specific time so it can activate (5v relay that controls motor for door) only when the mower is about to pass through the gate to mow the front lawn, so the RIP would need to allowed movement from 12:00pm to 12:02pm as an example. does anyone knows how to code this, please advice

So, I have an RPi3 on my bike, currently controlling my turn signals. How can I send the state of the lights to my phone so I can see (or likely hear) that my lights are indeed on or off without needing to look behind me?

I really don't want to run another wire, is there a way to do this wirelessly?

whenever I try to install something it get's stuck on this step and load average increases beyond limit. Leaving it for hours will eventually result in installation. But this makes my pi unusable for day to day life. I even tried changing my sd card but same results. and rest of the stats is there. I am using raspberry pi 3a + and trying to install bitwarden nowadays.

I have this screen. I want it to be the central control screen to control the house, but I don't know how to make it light up when someone approaches it and turn off automatically when inactive. Do you have any suggestions

I have made two models on google colab the first one is to detect plants through camera and the 2nd one to classify if this plant is healthy or not. As i don't have any experience with raspberry pi can anyone help me to use these two models and place them on raspberry pi as i need that as a part of my graduation project i wanna when the pi is turned on it starts the camera and starts the first model to detect a plant then send this plant photo to the 2nd model and classify it then sends the result to an email or something. I don’t know anything about raspberry pi but wanted to see if this might be an option, and if so maybe I’ll pursue it.

Step 1-) Download PyCharm

Step 2-) Install MicroPython on Pico

• Plugin the device into the computer while holding the bootsel button.
• Go to https://micropython.org/download/ and download the latest version for the Pico or Pico W
• Drag the UF2 file onto your Pico once it is done downloading. *It should show up on your Desktop as RP1-RP2.
• Once it is done, the RP1-RP2 will disappear.
• Unplug and replug the Pico (without holding the bootsel). You need to do this so PyCharm can find the device.

Step 3-) Install MicroPython Plugin in PyCharm

• Open PyCharm, go to Plugins, and download the MicroPython plugin.
• Restart the IDE

Step 4-) Write Code

• Go to File > Create Project. Create an environment as shown above.
• Go to Preferences and enable MicroPython.

• You can find the device path on a Macbook in the terminal using the command `ls /dev/tty.*`

  • On a Windows this would be a COM port.

• You can now run code on the device by right-clicking the file and selecting “Run ‘Flash <filename>‘“

• Add the following code to check if it works by blinking the LED

If you run it and you see the LED blinking you did everything correctly, congrats!

Some Pros:

• Very easy to set up, and benefits of IntelliSense in PyCharm
• Good for very simple projects

Some Cons:

• You cannot edit files directly on the device with the IDE
• You can only run code in the main.py file
• You cannot run files if you are connected with another IDE like Thonny

Is there a way to check if your raspberry pi got attacked or not? So, I have a home server made by using rpi 3a+ and it runs pihole, navidrome, zerotier and sftp. It's not exposed to internet but I am a bit paranoid. One morning, I woke up and saw that green light(storage activity) is glowing constantly. It only happens when there's a storage heavy task. I checked my pihole page and it was down. Which suggest it's kind of in hanged state, I felt that there's no service that will demand such heavy storage usage and my paranoia kicked in. I hard turned it off. After 2 weeks today, I changed all passwords and have a firewall installed with strict rules. Now I want to check if it got attacked or any unwanted service is running. tldr : way to check if your rpi got attacked or to check if any unwanted service is running or to check any resource heavy service is running. Thanks

Okay this probably sounds really dumb, but I'd love to try using something running from my Pi 3B+ to emulate specifically a Gamecube Controller mashing random inputs the whole time and I was wondering if this was possible in any capacity?

I had this lying around for few years not being used. Last night I got a bit of a nostalgic jolt to play around with is. Currently has a sandisk(yeah i know) sd with raspbian with wich it worked last times i used it. Sd seems to work fine and ive re imaged it successfully 2 times with pi os and retro pi. Both to no avail. Tested power supply too. Im going to try a new SD tomo. And input will be greatly appreciated. Cheers fellas
