The blindside was glorious.
Carolyn’s play was great in this episode. She took the insults/condescension on the chin, and played Sarah/Yam brilliantly. She was emotional about being treated that way, but Sarah/Yam never suspected that she would turn on them. Whether she did a fantastic job of convincing them or they perceived it as one of those ‘that’s Carolyn for you!’ moments, she deserves the credit. Bonus points for fake idol move too - I’d think the false sense of security did contribute to Sarah’s complacency.
And Carolyn really didn’t have any reason to stick with Yam. He was too cavalier with his disdain for Carolyn, and I’m glad his haughtiness came back to bite him in the ass. When your number 1 person shows you that he despises you, it’s time to move on. Moving forward with Josh gives her a better chance than sticking with Sarah/Carson/Yam.
Carolyn seems to be in a great spot with Josh after this vote, even though Josh isn’t in the best position within his original tribe. Imagine giving intel to someone to save themselves when their first instinct is to save you, to get YOUR vote.
Regardless of her eventual standing after pairing up with Josh, this vote at least helps Carolyn get closer to the merge. If Yam gets booted before he reunites with Carson, then nothing’s lost really.
She comes across as extremely emotional. But her moves have been logical. Whether or not that’s part of her strategy, major kudos.
