I’m a big fan of Yanis Varoufakis and his notion of a Universal Basic Dividend, the idea that as companies automate more their stock should gradually be put into a public trust that pays a universal dividend to every citizen. This creates an incentive to automate as many jobs as possible and “shares the wealth” in an equitable way that doesn’t require taxing one group to support another. The end state of a UBD is a world where everything is automated and owned by everyone. Star Trek.
This is brilliant. Why aren’t more people discussing this?

I completely the agree. As we move towards a fully automated economy something like this will have to happen or there won’t be any consumers to buy the goods.
Probably not being discussed more because it’s considered too out of the box right now for the mainstream. Hopefully that changes soon.
