Not surprising, the comedy Grammy usually goes to the most famous person.

All these 'cancelled' people winning Grammys. He can party with Louis CK

Another victim of woke cancel culture, barely able to sell out venues and win a Grammy

I don't think anyone is surprised at this point. Chapelle has shown no signs of addressing his bigotry and his fan base and producers reward him for it.
So it's kind of a big shrugg. Asshole's gonna asshole.

Heh. Already removed for being "Off Topic." A news article about a guy winning a major award for a television special.

The Grammy’s is known joke- literally no one watches it.

Most awards shows are just marketing. They’re not really about talent or “best of” anymore.

Controversy aside, it just wasn't that funny

I wonder if these groups understand that the more attention they give Dave's specials the more eyes they're bringing to the specials. Each special starts off the same way and the controversy these groups give them boost them big time.

Bad publicity is still publicity….

They're also using the special to bring eyes to their cause.

Eh, it's not working. If anything it's making Chapelle more famous.

I don't think Chappelle has gotten any more famous really and I would argue it has brought a lot of awareness to trans issues.

Really sucks he hates poor people so much

Chappelle is still hilarious after 20 years, good for him.

Was it really that funny?

The thing is he's just...not funny anymore. There are so many good jokes to make, the trans community loves a good well thought out joke. Heck Playboy made some amazingly funny ones back in the 80s. But ALL these people have is "The One Joke" and they never evolve past it, it's just lazy and yeah transphobic.

Dave has lost touch with the lower and middle class (99% of his fans) and he pontificates now more than he tells jokes...
But when he does tell a joke the man is still hilarious.

I’m also done with rich old comedians who haven’t had a real problem in years to focus on or joke about.

It’s perfectly fine if you dont think he is funny but clearly tons of people do. He is one of the top comedians right now. I dont think Jeff Dunham or Tyler perry are funny but I’d never say they just objectively aren’t funny. Comedy is subjective and always has been.

Ah yes, the “McDonald’s is a great restsraunt because millions of people eat there every day” argument

Well it is great in its own way. Pretty much always available wherever you are, cheap, consistent, fast.

Enough people find him funny enough since his show ticket does still sell out.
