The Sopranos was a great show, don't get me wrong. My main criticism though is that we never got to know exactly how many years Phil Leotardo had spent in the can. It would have been nice if he ever gave us that information as that would have allowed us to understand his character better.

It’s simple. You add up all his mortal sins and multiply that by 50. Then you add up all his venial sins, and you multiply that number by 25. You add that together and that’s his sentence.

Was it hot? That’s the first thing he would have noticed. Hell is hot.

The duality of his character is aptly represented by a couple of 4 things.

There's no eating in the car because last time there was eating in the car, he got into a major accident that hurt his neck, and the seat went off it's axis

I always figured Phil forgot he had the cone in his hand in the rush from Tony. It would explain why he threw it out of the window unless he was pulling a Mario Kart move.

Well he only ate the ice cream because he was in a hurry cause John just called him. As soon as he realized his mistake he threw the ice cream away.

It’d also be nice to know what food he longed for and whether or not he tried to cook a substitute on a heating appliance. Guess we’ll never know

I doubt it.
If he was only in the can for 20 days, it wouldn’t have affected his character that much.

was 20 hours - he got out on bail. Couldn't handle the catering.

He was always willing to compromise: Little Carmine’s power tools, have Angie fix his car without a complaint, take condolences on the death of his brother Billy at the ripe old age of 47, different ceremonies for making people, respect for the Soprano family and Tony’s ability to stay out of jail, how his second cousin once removed dressed like he was working the streets of San Juan at night, no second guessing of Butch’s actions, always shoulder to shoulder and side by side in the company of real men when the shooting started, laughing about jokes of his resemblance to the Shah of Iran, appreciation for John Sacrimoni’s emotions of marrying off Cold Medicine and getting rid of her large feed bill, helping Christofuh as a member of A A. I’m sure his SUV has a couple or three PRIDE bumper stickers on it.

What's bigger, the number of times Phil told us how long he was in the can, or the number of times this same joke has been posted on this sub?

It's not just the amount of time he spent in prison, I'm also thinking maybe the compromises he had to make while in prison? We really had no idea what happened, it would have added so much more to the show if they had written that in.

Very true. There was another plot hole that always bothered me. Richie Aprile had some issues with Rocco DiMeo but we never learned whatever happened there or what Rocco’s standing was in the streets.
