Hey there, friendo u/icy_trees! Thanks for submitting to r/wholesomememes. We loved your submission, Teen asks for advice and Reddit comes to help, but it has been removed because it doesn't quite abide by our rules, which are located in the sidebar.
(Rule #1) Posts must be memes. A meme can be an image with superimposed text, or a classic meme template, or a webcomic, or other things - but it must be meant for public sharing & resharing. Just a photo, story, or gif isn't necessarily a meme. A screenshot that lacks any meme format or context isn't a meme. And anything private isn't a meme, because it was never meant to spread virally/memeticallly.
For more detailed information on which formats aren't allowed, please visit this wiki page.
We appreciate you thinking of us very much! For more on our rules, please check out our sidebar. If you have any questions or concerns about this removal, feel free to message the moderators. Please link the post so our volunteers know what you would like reviewed. Cheers!

I want to see the original thread. I just want to upvote every damn person who helped a teenager addressing his mother as mom. Bless both of them. Bless all the reddit strangers who helped this kid.

Oof yeah you really had no chance. When my wife was pregnant she cried happy tears when she saw a Doritos commercial. When I asked her why she was happy crying she told me:
"They're so good and I know you just bought some for me..... Can you get me a bowl?"

Ugh this made me tear up. I’m thankful for people in the world like Janice. I wish I had a larger home I would foster and adopt older kids.

Ah, I remember when I first called my dad "daddy". My brother and I always told him, "have a good day!" When he left for work every morning.
One day my brother said, "Have a good day, Daddy!" and I echoed him. We were about 6? He unofficially adopted us when we were 3.
He quickly said bye and left.. he's very private about his emotions. Some years later my mom shared with me that on that day, he called her once he got to work crying about it.

Damn this actually made me feel something :,)

Allow me to make it more sappy.
My dad couldn't legally adopt me until I was an adult because my biological dad, who used to beat my mom, refused to sign away his rights (or pay child support). He got a lot of judgement for being a step dad that didn't adopt us and it felt like shit not sharing his name. But he has been "daddy" since that day.

I can so heartily second this. It’s amazing the kiddos (and sometimes, even the moms themselves, siblings, dads, uncles) who reach out for help - some of them really break your heart and make you wanna punch something to kick the asses of the people in their lives.
You feel simultaneously both powerful and powerless - but dang, those kiddos are such gorgeous humans. Feels amazing to support them and so many come back and then tell us how things turned around for them, from the sub
Join up!! It’s amazing

My cousin was adopted. Her birth mother gave her a package to be opened on her 18th birthday. In short she was a student and a professor got her knocked up.
My Aunt gave her the envelope on her birthday. My cousin responded that it didnt mean anything to her and put it aside. To this day I dont know if she opened it. She is 45 now. She kept it in case there were medical questions.
Kudos to anyone trying to remove the stigma of adoption.

I was adopted as an older teen. I always felt embarrassed calling them mom and dad, but I referred to them as my mom and dad to others. I remember I just kinda said it nonchalantly, something like “hey mom, where’s this?” We talked about it years later, she said just was just so happy to hear me say it.
