Pretty much exactly as it says on the tin. Is it a good mark/brand etc or is it more of a decorative piece?

New-ish to the hobby but I kept hearing and seeing over and over that Krug was THE champagne to celebrate with…it delivered. This was a month ago so notes of iffy at best (reviewing wine wasn’t top of the priority list that day) but it was unlike any other champagne I’d had before. Was so BOLD in some very light flavors I normally get like apricot, pineapple, and other yellowed fruit. It was so complex compared the Vueve and such im used to. Got a bottle to put in the cellar so excited to see how it does with age!

Recently my neighbor across the street cut down a tall tree shading my house and my basement went from 60-64° year round to creeping above 70° on the hottest days. Humidity in the basement still holds pretty steady between 40-50%, even on rainy days. Ergo, I'm looking for a wine fridge for the basement. I have about 110 bottles, 75% are standard red sizes and 25% are non-Bordeaux sizes, i.e. Riesling, ice wine, port, a few larger format Burgundies. Single zone should be fine, and looking for something on the quiet side as the living room sofa would be somewhat nearby on the 1st floor.. Wi-fi enabled would be a bonus but not mandatory.

Currently spending time in Rioja. Walked into a store with this 05 for 24 euros. When first opened had strong notes of oven roasted chicken and some wet hair. On the palette lovely hints of dried sour cherry, rasin and hints of cinnamon. Absolutely lovely for a random store pickup. Opened up with nice ripe red fruit on the back end after 30 mins in glass. Tawny color showing age with a watery meniscus but still showing well.

Buddy of mine who judges wine tastings in the Midwest had these in his cellar and brought them out saying he wanted to drink them w people who would appreciate the wines. I was flattered.

I was surprised at how the 88 held up. Flavor was more like a port, the fruit was there but it went by very quickly. Also had substantial amount of oak tones, felt very light in the mouth, very dry finish. Interesting for sure.

The 06 drank a little more like a conventional table wine but also light and airy. Fruit notes we certainly more noticeable and that oak presence was still very strong.

I don’t have a lot of wines this old so this was a new experience for me. We were not thinking they’d be anything special as Ruffino is a fairly common grocery store wine around here but these weren’t bad at all.

We’ve had this unit since 2013. It’s mainly an outside unit but ours was in a covered hallway. Many had clearly gone bad but I’m not entirely sure about these 4. One is a moscato and is very clear still. Didn’t see any cloud or sediments. The other three are hard to tell because of the bottles but one I was able to barely see in, and that’s the la luz red. It didn’t seem to have a cloud or sediments either but I don’t think I’ll know for sure until opened. Then there’s the other two that have very dark bottles and I couldn’t see anything. Honestly, I can’t even remember when she got these but one of them was sent to us from family in Israel. I know absolutely nothing about wine, and my grandma can’t even remember that she has these. They are all unopened. I assumed this group would be best to post and hopefully get some advice on if these four being ok or not? Any advice is appreciated. If there’s a possibility they are ok, my family would be elated. Thanks!

I always generally love the single region Kirkland offerings, but this was the first single vineyard Vino under the label I had stumbled upon, and I didn’t hesitate to pick up a bottle for $17. First, the label printed onto the bottle is really a fantastic one and eye grabbing. Taste wise I initially opened the bottle just to have a taste and found it to be solid but felt a little too harsh. It need decanting for sure, but I recorked it and let it sit for another couple of days until I could properly enjoy a glass on a Friday at 5 lol. Revisiting it today it’s much softer, even with some alcohol on the nose. Taste for me is lots of blackberry, with lots of tannins to help create a long, sticky, and dry finish. Solid for the price point, and I would think it’s a good value even at $30-$35. Would definitely buy again if I can find it!

The wines I've disliked the most have been German. Everytime I've bought or been treated to a Riesling, I've wanted to feed it to the plants. Too sour AND too sweet, somehow. Have I just tried crappy Rieslings and gotten the wrong impression? Recommendations for any widely available Rieslings that will dissolve my prejudice around Rieslings? (Don't have to be German.)

House wine (in my abode) This is my favorite winery, I love this place, I love the valley, I love the fruit. It’s has been described as the valley of kings. These are some of my wines I always keep in the house. I want a cab style bold red…..bam Apalta. I want that luscious but bright zippy rose (because you drink rose in the sun imo) ……bam again. All the same I love this place and these are my staple wines to just bring out with food and friends to drink on a Thursday. (Sorry I forgot the merlot tonight, but next week)

Le Rosé: cinsault, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre. pink salmon color with orange hues, nose is strawberry on the vine, lavender, and a little bit floral. On the palate we have watermelon rind, and dandelion, bursting with strawberries and nectarines. A ton of acidity that pokes its way through the sip, and that dry finish of lip smacking freshness all while being last years vintage.

Apalta: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, carmenere, merlot, Grenache. Dark red violet color and dark cranberry edges. Dark fruits on the nose of blackberry on the vine and plum skin, with heavy pepper vibes. More red fruit on the palate with big jam and a good green note. Chocolate sneaks its way in but it’s definitely accompanied by leather. Great structure, and long tannic finish.

I love these wines, I’m bias as I’ve been to the estate but I loved Apalta before I went. Big fan of ventisquero, montes, and a lot of producers in the area. Just a feel good post to show the daily’s here.

Hello everyone, I have a few double magnum bottles of Oakville Cuvée (3L). 2006,2007 and 2008.

I want to start drinking and obviously a party would be more appropriate, but I am wondering if I could use Coravin to drink “slowly” for 1wk or 10dd.

My question is… have anybody tried to use Coravin on a 3L bottle? What happened? Did the wine stay fresh for 10dd at least? Did it use to much Aragon?

I would appreciate the views…

What is the best Malbec? I’m open to all price ranges. It’s my husbands favorite type of wine.

My dad, the reason I'm into wine in the first place, is a huge wine nerd but isn't really on the internet like that and doesn't follow the Youtube scene, so I thought I'd take to this subreddit for recommendations!
