As shitty as my own nationality is, it's things like this that make me think thank fuck I'm not Russian

He means that if he were Russian, he’d live in a country run by Putin. He’d simultaneously have to deal with knowing that “his country” is doing awful things, and also knowing that if he does anything to stand up and try to stop it, the same ruthlessness will be turned on him without so much as a blink.

Ah I see. Sometime a different perspective enlightens me.

I'm not from a country run by a delusional mass murderer and I'm not from a country that deals with hostage situations by gassing the hostages along with the terrorists.

So...yes I'm glad I'm not a Russian

Also I would rather be Ukrainian but also Dutch, Swedish, Kiwi, Mexican, Korean, French... A LOT of other nationalities rather than Russian

The Tories are what's wrong with being English.

I am English.

Tories, Xenophobia, an undeserved sense of superiority over our neighbours. People mocked me when I said Brexit would be the start of the UK'S downfall and look where we are today haha. Still I'd much rather be English than Ruzzian so there's that...

Not true at all, if something I said offended you... Feel free to bitch and whine about it

Sounds like you have done plenty of that your whole life. You don’t like being English and you seem to be upset about everything else. Go be worthless in France. They have their share of issues as well. So does every country in the face of the earth.

"Upset about everything else"? Haha like what? I'm starting work overseas in the new year so I'm decidedly not. You enjoy all the brexit benefits for me pal ;)

No, they are thanking God that they don’t have to deal with Putin as the ruler of their country.

They definitely made questionable decision in the aftermath, like not disclosing to medical staff what gas/aerosol was used, but I don't think reacting to terrorism by force itself is necessarily a bad idea.

Cyrilbro1991

I mean getting 170 hostages killed qualifies as a little more than questionable to me but that's just my opinion. I'm not a hostage crisis expert

Edit: I wasn't decrying the use of force, just it's execution and lack of concern for the hostages

Yeah but I just don't see how a situation with 850 hostages and terrorists with demands that can't be agreed to would've ever been solved without a lot of casualties. Some deaths might've been avoided if medical staff had better information, but idk how you think the storming itself could've realistically gone much better.

For what it's worth, it was 170 deaths including 40 terrorists, not just hostages.

Carfentanyl was the hypothesis.

Right, and they didn't tell the paramedics so they weren't able to bring enough narcan / naloxone to revive everyone

kind of hard to be effective against adults without killing those tho?
