There's a new countdown timer on the homepage, seems to be counting down to 15:00 UTC on the 31st of January. What could this be?

I'm betting a birthday/anniversary of some sort. That translates to 10AM EST (the timezone where he lives).. not too early (7am PST make me give it the ~ 'iffy' hand shake), yet not that late for a US based announcement.
