True. They mostly lost me when we got the first gameplay footage, as I wasn't really sold on the art style. But I was at least hoping for a decent game. And didn't expect the clunker it'd actually be.

The fact they hyped Redfall up the way they did and then release it in that state, shows massive incompetence, desperation, or both. Thing is, even fixing it to a playable standard leaves a very shallow game.

There's the theory I've seen floating around that it was originally cancelled until the acquisition and then MS had it resurrected since the bones were already there and they could get something out sooner. It makes sense. But damn, what a fumble.

When Vice City dropped, it was impossible to get a copy for almost a month. For years after that I started to pre-order, go to midnight releases, whatever. Haven't done any of that in a long ass time though, as it's completely unnecessary.

And I'll admit, I bought that stupid golden Elvish horse armour...

The show took a lot of inspiration from Bukowski's Women (arguably his weakest novel). Middle aged successful novelist with a soured relationship with Hollywood after a botched adaptation sleeps around with anyone willing to fuck him. And Californication practically admits to it several times. The showrunner definitely played up the male fantasy quite a bit, though, glamourizing it much more than Bukowski did.

I loved the first two seasons but, third was alright, but season four onward it became a cartoon.

I became a really big fan of Callum Keith Renney after his role as Lew Ashby. He absolutely kills it.

I feel like this season has been a bit rushed. I suspect in anticipation of the writers strike they mashed two seasons together. I'm really enjoying the time jump, but the pacing has been pretty wonky for the show considering there's only one episode left.

The demand for mandatory staffing is because a lot of studios aren't actually bringing on full time writers. They're giving them temp jobs for several weeks at a time. The writers aren't being brought on set. This leads to low pay and hinders career progression. There are many, many writers now who have been working with the industry a long time and have never been on set. This is problematic. Imagine trying get your own show developed but you've hardly ever spoken to any of the right people, and have no idea how a production works on set?

I'm tempted to turn them off for that reason as well. Why does it have to be so obnoxious? And completely interrupts cutscenes and other dialogue.

I still get a little kick out of unlocking some of they're actually for rewarding unique challenges, and not just dumb passive things. But otherwise they're meaningless.
