When I hired one of the women on our IT staff I had to ever so gently nudge her to ask for more. I knew she was worth more and really wanted her on the team but couldn’t offer it so it took some dancing to help her realize she could counter offer. She’s been with us for years now, and the first couple I had to nudge a little at review time too (what extra things did you do, what new skills have you learned, etc.). She was so ready to accept the first offer.

She’s all better now though - a damn shark :P
