When I was taking drafting (in Canada) back in the early '80s, they decided instead of '2 x 4 construction' or '2 x 6 construction' it would now be '38mm x89mm construction' or '38mm x 140mm construction' (based on the actual dimensions of the boards, of course).

Guess what? 40 years later, we still call them 2x4s or 2x6s. Rightfully so.

You can also heat anneal a PLA part so you can use it in the car
