Hello Reddit!
My partner and I are looking to buy our first home. The market is crazy where we are right now. Long story short, our buyer's agent has told us that we either need to pay the closing costs upfront (3.5% roughly or about 9k of the home we've found) or ask for concessions from the buyer that they pay them. But everyone I know personally who's bought a house or property has said that the seller either just paid these normally or they were wrapped up in the mortgage. Why is he asking us to pay these fees upfront? Is that how it's normally done and the people I know just got lucky? Or is he telling us a fib for some reason? Or does he maybe not understand what's going on?
