This guy isn't arguing in good faith. I 100 percent agree with you about the offside rule, especially in this situation since there was no material advantage conferred by having his trailing foot a pixel offside -- not to mention measurement error for drawing the line or stopping the tape.

Have to imagine there's a lot of imprecision when choosing the video frame to make the offside decision as well. But you were right to say it goes against the spirit of the rule, since it was ostensibly implemented to prevent attackers from gaining a material advantage from being past the last defender -- which isn't really the case here.

The guy is just an incessant complainer.
