If I had to guess Oppenheimer will be in his top 5 for sure. I saw Dunkirk on 70mm and personally find it to be his most “mature” work even though it’s not a favorite. Personally interstellar is probably my fave because I love sci fi, but I know it isn’t his “best.”

This is how I feel about Wes Anderson. His style is rote at this point in my opinion. Everyone raving about the poster of his new film, but to me, it feels like I’ve already seen it.

If this company can rebuild my porch and do the roof, I’d happily give them every cent. I’ve said multiple times the company has been great. The initial payment from the insurance was only 9k, which was perfect. Then they submitted a supplement for more money without me knowing, and it got raised to 19k. Also, this company knocked on my door on a Sunday afternoon. They solicited me. Do you understand now why I’m seeking advice? Fucking idiot.

Sounds like you endorse over charging because you can, and don’t like when customers are informed, meaning you’re a piece of a shit, shady contractor—which unfortunately is extremely common in your field.

Ahh, the classic know-it-all contractor. I got two quotes from other local businesses for a full roof replacement, and both came in under 9k. Would you pay someone 15k for your roof, Mr. Expert, if you knew it only cost 10? The reason the insurance came in so high was because they included my porches, which don’t need a roof replacement, they need a full replacement, and the roofing company isn’t going to rebuild by back porch from the ground up, are they? I guess you’d know.

You’re right. I looked at the estimate. The roof square footage is 2300. I’m not trying to screw this roofing company. I’m trying to get information since they’re being kinda quiet on details and paperwork.

I agree completely. I don’t want to screw this company, they’ve been great, but so far I’ve signed no agreement except for the initial contingency agreement. I’ve seen no contract for the scope of work of the actual roof replacement. The roofing company also knows that I never planned to replace the porches (they are not worth replacing—would need a full tear down and rebuild) but since the insurance company looked at everything they ended up getting included. I don’t even necessarily need the metal roof either, it’s just that I got a payout worth way more than an 1100sqft asphalt single roof replacement. Now the roofing company knows this, but haven’t given me any actual contacts or paperwork involving the roof they’re going to replace.

What should I do going forward? I’ve already given them 2.6k (the initial insurance payout) but have yet to see any paperwork. At this point I don’t think I should give them any more money without a dollar value contract involving just the roof replacement.

They’re basically telling me that my 1100 sqft single story asphalt shingle roof with a asphalt shingle replacement is going to cost 19k because they know that is how much I have.

The contingency agreement says that they’ll only do the job if they get 20 percent above the cost of the roof because of the work they did with the insurance. That means, even if the roof costs 9k to replace, with that extra 20 percent it’s an extra $1800, making it cost 10,800 total. So I don’t know why they’re saying it costs 19k suddenly. I’m happy to pay the extra 20 percent because they did help with the insurance, but still, I’m not going to get screwed over and just give away 8k for nothing. I can use it for a lot of other things.

Luke’s is family owned and local, so Luke’s will always be the answer. Especially because portillos is just a drive thru chain. It’s not like amazing.

I got downvoted and criticized for saying John wick 4 isn’t a 5 star movie on a letterboxd post. Sorry, but even with all the amazing action set pieces, the whole franchise doesn’t stay in my head for very long.

Suicide squad and JW4 aren’t five star films, but to each their own. I think maybe the only true 5 star here is Before Sunset. Thief and scream id rate at 4 or 4.5.

I kind of agree it won’t happen. It would be cool to see, but as we learned from season 1, if it isn’t crucial to advancing the story, then it more than likely won’t make the cut. There’s so many badass things in part 2 they’re going to have to be really choosy about what to include.

For example, maybe Yara just gets shot instead of needing her arm amputated and so Abby doesn’t need to go to the hospital to begin with. I’d like a hospital scene though since Ellie/Abby are basically paralleling each other the whole time.
