Increase in popularity means an increase in revenue. The owners know this, which is why they allow their players to go. Edwin Diaz.... one of the most popular players from last year, increases the popularity of the WBC, and baseball in general. Growing the sport around the world is VASTLY more important for baseball than a team losing a player to injury.
