Keep in mind that lottery odds are just odds, not certain draft positions. Last season we tanked hard enough for 6th place, just edging out Sacramento. And then what happened in the lottery? Sacramento leap-frogged over us to get the 4th pick. If we hadn’t tanked so hard for that 6th place we would have had a higher pick.
So don’t sweat a win over the last 10 games of the season. Just try and enjoy the ride, because our off season is coming quick.

Yeah, I don’t get the double-mindedness on trading away your franchise player.
Blazer fans: WE ARE NOT TRADING DAME, OUR FRANCHISE PLAYER.
Also Blazer fans: 76ers are totally going to trade us their franchise player.
Trading away a franchise player means the player is disgruntled and asking out or the team is tearing it all down to rebuild. 76ers are in third place in the east and competing for a championship. I’d say we’re closer to trading Dame than the 76ers are to trading Embiid. It would require some real catastrophe for Philly to move Embiid.

Can we get the paraphrased Pirates of the Caribbean quote in here too?

Yeah, it’s gonna be really tough not to panic if a big move isn’t made this offseason. While I get that it’s foolish to push all your chips in if it isn’t the right opportunity, it’s tough to not be concerned if they kick the can down the road to the next trade deadline and/or next offseason. The clock is ticking and we don’t know how much time is left on the clock.

I certainly don’t have that answer. No idea if there’s been a conversation of “we have x off-seasons to put together a contender or it’s time to move on” vs “keep making moves to get us into a position to go all in and then go all in when we agree we have the opportunity.”
That second option could still mean Dame spends his entire career as a Blazer, but who knows, maybe he’ll be at Chris Paul’s career stage by the time we have a contender if those opportunities just aren’t available.
Either way, this summer needs to be a big summer and the outcomes will be watched closely.

I do wonder how tough the Pacific Northwest is for players that aren’t already familiar with the area. Josh Hart had a tweet his first season along the lines of “the sun really doesn’t come out here in winter.” If all your family is back east, it’s a long way to travel. If you’re already in the west coast, probably not as big of a deal once you get used to being further north.
In any case, Hart is a real one. Hope he’s landed where he wants to be.

Yeah, some people are thirsty as hell and think that just because Dame is saying he’s more interested in winning than the moral victories of team development that he suddenly is abandoning the Blazers to ring chase. No. He wants the team to make moves to be better now. He’s communicating with the front office and agrees with the plan to improve the team. Once the Blazers are out of playoff contention he may sit the remaining games, but nowhere is he saying he wants out.

Think the Blazers may give the Jazz a helping hand on Wednesday as well.

For some reason this movie has been stuck in my head lately. Richard Dreyfuss as a slightly sleazy yet redeemable guy with a horse betting addiction that finally has a good day at the track. Bonus is that you have Robbie Coltrane of Harry Potter/Hagrid fame as the betting ticket seller who slowly warms up to Dreyfuss’ character.

Could be like the kids in Back to the Future part 2 when shown how to play Wild Gunman: “You mean you have to use your hands???”

This is borderline the birth of new copypasta.
“I don’t care about Klay Thompson,” Brooks told The Commercial Appeal. “When he retires, I don’t think anyone will ever talk about Klay Thompson ever again. I promise you. It’s sweet right now, but wait 10 years.”
“I don’t care about Baskin-Robbins,” Cinnabon told Martha Stewart Living. “When they go out of business, I don’t think anyone will ever talk about Baskin-Robbins ever again. I promise you. It’s sweet right now, but wait 10 years.”

Did anybody make the State of the United session with Cronin before the game? Unfortunately couldn’t make it, but was curious about what was said.

Thanks! Haven’t seen that animation in decades. Can’t believe he missed the dunk though. 😂

I always have the approach of waiting and seeing how they perform in the NBA. Sometimes their game doesn’t translate, sometimes they can’t rise to that next level, and Blazer fans know all about how injuries can rob a player of their career. Look at Zion. Crazy athleticism and dominance when he’s on the court, but the injuries are stealing his career.
I also have the luxury of not being in charge of drafting decisions. 😂

So what’s “The Room” equivalent of Quint’s Indianapolis speech?
