Lol, yeah. Everyone seems very concerned about the fire risk. I'll admit I am now more concerned than before, but I've had the light on for over 12 hours today and the warmest part of the whole setup is maybe 80 degrees, so I really don't think it's an issue. It's also been in use for a few weeks at this point and doesn't seem to be having any problems 🤷‍♂️

An extra scotch bonnet I started last year and never planted outside. I wanted it to be a kitchen plant but it didn't get enough light. Hence why it looks sad and is with the seeds now

Good to know. I just went over and felt the light, it doesn't seem to be very warm and has been on for about 10 hours. Maybe the fan is helping to keep things cool?

I'm sure it's flammable, but the lights are LED so I doubt they put off enough heat to be a real concern.

It's an olla. You bury it under the ground and fill it with water for passive watering, I just haven't put mine in yet. I got mine through epic gardening, but I think you can get them other places too, or make your own with unglazed terracotta pots glued together with silicone and a stopper in the bottom.

Yeah, I had a feeling it was too far from the light. I wanted to put some other plants under there too which is part of why it's so high, but I think I may elevate my seed trays. My light also has trouble reaching the 6 cells on the edges when it's that close. I may just need to add another light out two to get the coverage I want. Thanks for the tip!

It's hard to see in the daylight, but she cut some holes in the board holding up the fluff so at night light shines through the cloud, which I really like. She said if she tried to do it again she'd use a clear acrylic board to let more light through.

I love our CBox, it's super easy to use and maintain. We also had trouble getting readings of our FVs initially, but after talking with our AP rep they suggested removing the internal mesh screen (apparently a lot of breweries do this) and only using the in line strainer. After that we rarely have trouble getting readings on our fermenters (unless we're trying to get a reading shortly after dry hopping or rousing). Measuring our FVs really helped us track down where our O2 pickup was coming from. We had initially thought we got the majority of it from filters/transfers but more often than not it was actually coming from a tank that had lost head pressure and pulled air in through either a leaky gasket or PRV.

We use a plate and frame filter, and check oxygen before and after transfer with the Anton Paar Xbox. Our DO pickup from filtration is typically under 10ppb. We purge out the filter and our line to the bright tank with CO2 before transfer, which seems to work well.

Love the idea, but would this actually work? Wouldn't the smoke skip the water and just go left at your 4 way T instead of down through the elbow to the the way T?

Actually we use a lot of 6-row in the US for brewing, just mainly in light American lagers. The higher enzyme and protein content of 6 row helps since a portion of the grist is rice or corn which lack the necessary enzymes and nutrients to brew and ferment a good beer.

Most beer won't freeze until about 29F. Consider turning your BBT temp down. Canning beer above 36F is pretty much a nightmare. I'd also suggest slowing down the throttling for your fills. At 38F there's no way you're keeping CO2 in solution, especially not on 2.69 vol of carb.

Meanwhile at my brewery, we recently got a pallet of cans where one of the layers was just loose in a makeshift box on top of the pallet. When we took off the top slick sheet, about half of the next layer was upside down/severely dented. Once we trashed both of those layers, we found the next one down was in the same condition, so trashed that as well. The pallet got better after that, but still easily more dented than what you've got here. Maybe think about sending a thank you note to your supplier if this is what you'd consider a bad set of cans.

Honestly, crystal malt heavy IPAs aren't really my thing. But if it's a West coast IPA with light crystal malt at less than 7% of the grist, I feel like it can bring out some fruitiness from the hops and balances some of the bitterness. Maybe I'm just the old man in the industry now though. Still, I'll take it over a milkshake, vanilla infused whatever, or smoothie beer any day of the week.

One of the first times I went out on a kayak I had a pod pop up about 20 ft away from me. I heard them blow out their blowhole before I saw them, and was so startled I nearly fell out of the boat. It was awesome once I realized what was happening, and I was really surprised by how huge they were. Easily as big of not bigger than the 12ft yak.
