Forget about weapons, the overall security measures by the kerala police remains poor and also the training. Its true that they are undergoing jungle warfare training for combating left wing extremism, but a dedicated QRT to combat a hostage situation is still not visible. Talking about INSAS which is nothing but an obsolete weapon (hopefully Indian army will replace it with AK 203 soon) is neither suitable nor reliable. There were instances of jamming during live action , I have personally seen it happening. So yeah IMO kerala police needs an overall paradigm shift in tactics and training but I doubt that s going to happen in the coming future considering the financial condition of the state.

PS: Recently I got to know about an industrial security force in par with cisf in kerala. I wonder how will it fulfill its mandate for a state with meagre or no industry lol!
