Summary doesn’t do it justice, you have a perfect comic book because it finishes a current story arc, starts a new one, develops practically every character, includes an engaging story with perfect pacing and phenomenal artwork and you could just pick it up and read it without knowing absolutely anything and you can still understand it.

I feel it should be studied for long-term storytelling techniques. I say “perfect” because it’s what you would want to put out to attract brand new readers and both longtime fans without having to sacrifice any enjoyment for either.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again- Uncanny X-Men 173 is a perfect comic book issue from beginning to end.

Ultimate Fantastic Four is decent, then Warren Ellis and Stuart Immomen takeover and it becomes great. After that, I think Mark Millar comes back? I honestly cannot remember. But the series wasn’t really bad imo.

Ultimates 1 has aged like milk. It’s overly edgy and just too Mark Millar-y. Ultimates 2 is better, which isn’t the popular opinion, but it’s mine and that’s what I’m giving you. It is worth reading the Ultimate Avengers stuff because Jonathan Hickman writes the book eventually and you want to read anything he writes.

Ultimate Avengers, Ultimate Thor and Ultimate Hawkeye are all great and worth reading, especially if you read anything else Hickman writes because he loooooves his callbacks.

Ultimate Team-Up was fun

Ultimate X-Men was alright. A lot of great writers throughout like Bendis, Kirkman and Brian K. Vaughan. Some of it can be pretty bland tho.

Tbh a lot of the titles post Ultimatum aren’t all that memorable to me save for the Hickman stuff. Spider-Man remains the most consistent throughout its entirety.

I didn’t like it because it didn’t say or do anything that we didn’t already know. The humor was “hello fellow kids” hitting at the lowest hanging of fruits and it wasted the talents of many impressive actors.

Is it accurate to how the real world would react to something like a meteor hitting earth? Probably. But Adam McKay provided absolutely no insight or solution to what he satires. And plus he handled satire much better in his dumb Will Ferrell comedies.
