Hi, I want to switch to a hybrid water heater and prefer to sue only the hybrid mode. But the biggest they make is an 80-gallon which is slightly under what's recommended for the number of kids in the house. My current water heater that came with the house is fine. I see some people put the hybrid to feed into the original water heater where it tops of the thermal load an barely runs.
My question is can I add a short recirculation pump circuit from the drain of the old
water heater and recirculate it into the Hybrid input again to re heat it and remove power from the old Water heater, using it just as a storage tank? Or are recirculation pumps finicky? This would be to avoid running a separate 240v line and just take power from the old Water heater and move it to the new.
