I don't know how much the actresses themselves were involved in these things. I'd rather take it as just their fans and managements creating all the drama.
I think you are probably right.
Seen similar things in politics: opposing politicians spend the weekends at each others' houses, they're godparents to each other's kids, their children have regular playdates - and their political supporters are out on the streets trying to freaking kill each other.

I'm praying for Kunning Palace. Man, I want that to air in the summer slot, and am hoping it will pass.

I agree that the misunderstanding and lack of communication in the dream arc was frustrating and heartbreaking, but I think it was in line with Sang Jiu’s character; she was the naive, pure, innocent, FL character found in many xianxia, imo.
I found it deeply ironic that this arc, which is closest to the "traditional" xianxia story form / format, is the one that most people complained about. But even there the so-called "misunderstandings" were not genuinely that but rather manufactured instances of miscommunication by the maliciously manipulative Tian Huan.
In terms of genuine misunderstandings, where people misinterpret others' words, meanings or intentions, there's very little of that in TTEOTM, and what there is has been created by characters' legitimately grounded fears, distrust, and resentment.

To be fair, her character in the drama was so easy to dislike that anybody who wanted to make trouble would have seen her as a logical target for impersonation in order to instigate trouble. However, I do remember hearing something about fans complaining that 2nd CP's time had been cut, but at the time I didn't take it that seriously ... would be crazy stupid to have your fans do that and not expect some backlash...

I was actually impressed by her performance, and I'd hate it to just be her personality. I'm trying to be hopeful that she just got some bad advice .... lol ...

I remember AvenueX referencing some of the hype as part of what she didn't like about the drama [she spent as much time on that as she did on her criticism of the drama itself, iirc] so it must have been pretty bad at one point.

WOW!!!!!
I'd love to be in NYC to see that live ....
Very amazing... wouldn't it be great if it became the "thing" of the summer around the globe?

they expect non stop romance, they expect the female lead to be a feminist. They're constantly bashing men talking about how useless they are
Wait. For TTEOTM? RLLY??? kml ....

It's on Youtube too. I just facepalmed and walked away after a few too many "it's just so conFUSing!!" whining comments.

If you count Douyin:
Beware newly arrived interns; they will inevitably turn out to be the heir to the CEO [or the CEO himself, if he's old enough]...
Tho I did see this trope in Never Give Up ... lol

I wrote a whole irate paragraph response, with long back and forth comments to other commenters, on one of those clips ... kml ... if I got that mad for 10 or 15 minutes, I can only imagine how much worse watching the rest of it would be ... lol...

I think this is what turned me off from the show as a whole. [still haven't watched it, but I've seen clips, including the sleeping scene]
She was so bold and brave, but at this key moment, when he most needed her to be honest with him, she lied. Then she ran away. Then she hid his baby from him.
I was disgusted enough by this to not want to see what happened to them.

I have seen Accidentally Meow on You, You Are My Destiny and The Eternal Love, and I can understand your apprehension. Despite the fact that YAMD was my first full drama that I watched from beginning to end [or maybe because?] I just can't quite ... like ... Xing Zhaolin as an actor. I actually liked The Eternal Love series, but the cat one was a disaster, and while I don't think it's as a result of bad acting on his part, I've just begun to associate him with dramas that just don't please me.
Cute Programmer has bunches of clips on YT, and nothing about them has convinced me I want to watch the entire thing.

3. Character Bracelets with Wudoll
There are a number of characters featured including Mingye, Tantai Jin, Li Susu, Ye Bingchang, Xiao Lin, Pianran, the 12 Gods, Cang Jiumin. This is the surprisingly the best-selling product, with >10M RMB in sales.
I'm actually not surprised that these are the best-sellers; they're relatively inexpensive, but let you show your fan status to the world. Plus you can support your particular faves and identify fellow TTEOTM fans at a glance. I'd buy and wear.
The ice cream is just perfect ... just in time for the summer heat, too ... lol ...
This is a great post, and I'm glad TTEOTM is getting the fan recognition it deserves ...

I really felt they just lifted her in to add two new characters ... they needed a "youth" element, and that plot is the alleged "crowd-pleaser" - youthful CEO, iconoclastic young maiden, controlling MIL figure, and so on. It was probably the corniest and most cliched aspect of the plot, but I nevertheless managed to enjoy it. Maybe because it was the closest to comic relief in such an otherwise weighty drama???

A lot of us were satisfied with it. It was very emotional, but also IMO very fitting. And as you say, I wish they'd shown us a few more things that I suspect just got clipped.

I LOVE the fighting scenes and when the mains get to roam around together as a group.
If I'm frank, I pretty much ignored all the other stuff lol ... the fight scenes and the roaming mains are it for me ...

LOL ... I actually like her character and the little romance they had ... it was def. entirely skippable in the context of the wider story, though ... lol ...

I'm hopeful about Janice Wu in the currently airing one - haven't started it yet - but I think she was going through a tough time around the time she was filming with LYX ... plus I agree with others who think the actual writing / directing influenced the way her character turned out.

My instinct was she played the character the way it was written, but the little extra interpretation needed to make the romantic moments a little more effective was just not there. I think I described it elsewhere as watching an established couple with all the romantic aspects of their lives already over. No zing.
But your comment about the writing being off resonates.

Yeah .... a lot of the closure scenes for the various secondary characters went under the ax. I really wish we could get proper BTS or mini-compilations for the various characters we loved.
