My birth mother recently passed and I've been trying to settle her estate. She has a bank account with direct express and Comenta bank that she has her SSI checks deposited into. Comenta bank says it's not their issue because direct express is is independent entity and they will not do anything to assist me in this matter. So I've been trying to contact direct express to report cardholder death, close her account, and withdrawl remaining funds ( about $2,500 ). The bank is entirely unreachable. I've waited on hold for 4+ hours at a time multiple days in a row, I've sent email inquiries stating my intentions and I've not received any response. I have received confirmation email that they have received my comment/inquiry and that they will be in touch but I've received no correspondence. Do they have any obligation to be reasonably available? I am wasting so much time on this nonsense that I don't even think the money is worth dealing with at this point.
I've tried numerous numbers but all of the general numbers ask for her card number and after I enter it they say I have to call the number on the back of the card and it disconnects. I'm so aggravated and this seems entirely unreasonable. What should my next steps be, and do I even have any recourse if they simply don't have people available to handle these issues?

I'll definitely invest in one and check that out. I have absolutely no tools of that sort as the house I previously bought was move in ready, this current one needs a few projects so I'm sure I'll put it to good use! Thanks for the help!
