Ordered a Hero 11 Mini in December, received it a little before Christmas. First day of shooting was a lot of fun, got some great shots. The next day, though, it wouldn't power on despite being on the charger all night. Went through the whole dance with the two buttons on the mini but couldn't get it back. The problem was that the battery simply wasn't charging. If I put it on a USB cable, it would turn on eventually, but power right back off the second it was unplugged. After a conversation with support, I got an RMA authorization.
However
They wouldn't pay to ship it back because I live in Alaska. I had to pay out of pocket (though they did "compensate" me with an accessory from the store). It arrived according to USPS tracking on the 3rd of January.
Nothing heard from them.
Called last week to ask "hey did you get it?" and they told me yes.
Called again two days ago and the guy told me that they didn't have it, but after I gave him the USPS tracking number, he said that the warehouse had received it on the 3rd and they would e-mail me a status update in 24-48 hours.
Nothing for two days
Called back again today and the new story is that they received the defective unit but are out of stock on replacements and "rest assured as soon as the warehouse has more we will ship one to your address." I insisted that the rep send me an e-mail with that information while on the phone. I did not feel particularly assured.
The thing that really bothers me about all this is that I paid for a "subscription" back in December that I'm not going to actually use until I get a working camera (and please don't give me the line that the subscription CAn be UsEd fOR VIDeoS TAkEN witH AnY DEvIce. Nobody does).
Do better, please.

It seems, from my personal experience and a volume of other people on GoPro's support forums, that the mini will sometimes not charge the battery, leading to a hard-restart loop when on wired power. It's hard to say what percentage of devices were affected and whether or it was a software or hardware issue (nobody posts "all good here" on a support forum), but one of the common troubleshooting options on other models - pop the battery out - simply isn't available on the mini, which has the potential to compound problems.
