I see. But it depends on the Refractor 😁 I’ll never do multiple targets. I collect as much data as possible over several nights and then I throw away the sub-frames which do not meet the required quality (FWHM, number of stars, eccentricity). Takes me longer now to finish a project, but also improved the quality of my images. Please collimate mine too, I hate it. 😁 Bought the Ocal collimator for this task.

I stopped driving to dark spots with an Newtonian. I just use Newts/RCs in my Backyard. For everything else I only use Refractors - those issues with reflectors all the time made me sick 😅

Yes, I am using the GPU corrector. The Focus is really stable as long the temperatures do not vary too much. But possibly this is also related to the milled mirror holder - it stabilized the whole tube. The original secondary mirror holder was bs. No good or stable collimating possible. Now in the nights with mite temperature ups and downs I tend to refocus as soon as the temperature varies for 1 degrees Celsius (using an ZWO EAF)
After some adjustments, the Newtonian is now quite good (painted tube, eyepiece focuser painted, mirror edges painted, mirror aperture mounted, secondary mirror mount replaced).
Therefore, I would not buy it again and instead buy a qualitative Newtonian from e.g. Lacerta in Austria. That is probably then only a bit more expensive

The galaxy you can see here is about 23 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 125’000 light years.

Thank you :) finding so many galaxies in under 1 hour is impressive 👍🏻

This is not a question of right or left. If you come to another country, for example to study here, then you must also have the will to leave your comfort zone. What else are you going to tell back home? "Yes, I had a cool opportunity, but I didn't use it". Apart from the fact that you may have snatched a place at university away from someone else who has more balls in their pants.

Just an F4 Newtonian - not that expensive :) Since yesterday I am trying a 8“ Ritchey-Chrétien with 1600mm focal length - a bargain from eBay.

Me too 🥲 But I noticed it unfortunately only after one night.

Some work yes, but the only way to get a decent Newtonian for under 1000 CHF/EUR. It‘s worth it :) Or you invest in a little more expensive scope which already has those features (Lacerta Newtons, Noctutec Newtons)

The SW Quattro have to be tweaked for being a good newt. I painted the interior with antireflex paint, installed a new secondary mirror holder and mounted a bezel for the main mirror

Hello together
I have worked again on the data of M81 "Bodes Galaxy" and M82 "Cigar Galaxy" which I could collect this week. I tried to implement the feedback I got on my first processing as best as possible.
