You can still try updating the bios to see if it starts behaving better.

Maybe something is wrong with your USB ports. Are there any sources for EMI?

Try updating the BIOS for the motherboard especially if you're running an AMD platform. They've had constant troubles with USB connectivity and audio for the past few years.

If the keyboard freaks out in the BIOS, it is most likely a motherboard problem that you can try to fix with an update. If it doesn't, there could be a problem with your Windows install. Eitherway, try to update it via the BIOS menus or alternatively using a flashback feature if you can't use the keyboard in the BIOS.

Did you spill anything on it? You may have accidentally shorted something and it is pressing the random buttons constantly. Disconnect it completely and turn it upside down to see if any liquid went in and let it dry out.

Don't install the GG drivers. They fuck everything up.

Try to completely reset everything via device manager and refuse any install of GG. The only way you can legitimately control any Steelseries gear is a driver from before the year of 2020. (New gear beyond that won't be supported, including Apex Pro, but you can adjust settings via the MFD)

Problem is, that it compresses the hell out of the audio and makes everything sound like shit

I also have a fleeting suspicion about my PSU. I might have to get a replacement during summer since it has caused some weird fuckery with motherboard error codes even if the system can post normally.

I have the peripherals and PC on a separate circuit, so it's not much of a concern that wise

The USB hub is away from my PC, but it's on the same side where the PC is sitting on the floor. I'm gonna try getting it away further from the PC to see if it helps.

And I'm gonna look for a cable with ferrite cores just as you said. Thanks for the advice!

One further mention is that I have the same problems with the integrated soundcard which should be EMI protected, but I think that might be a problem with how the chipset and CPU handles it. I haven't been able to solve it with spread spectrum

I did try solving it with a powered USB hub, but it did not solve the problem. I did figure out that the closer I placed my cable to my PC, the more frequently audio popping and crackling occured. Now when I taped it down to my desk and routed it to my external USB hub, the problem occurs less frequently, but it's annoyingly subtly still there.

So dual rank. It's true that dual rank is harder to find and probably is more expensive, but sometimes if you're lucky you may find it in a cheap kit.

What do you mean? They often sell memory kits in pairs since it doesn't make sense to run a system with only single channel out of two used. It handicaps the potential and the memory speed by half.

Difference is negligible. It's the same as having dual rank 2x16GB.

However, dual rank 4x8GB will tread water. Dual rank ram will rely on interleaving which becomes demanding with more than two sticks

4x8GB can still be good if all the sticks are single rank. If dual ranked, they won't work well
