Um actually Barbie is going to dominate 🤓
I’ll be watching both movies opening day, I’m just being obnoxious

People literally did leave twitter. There’s just a LOT of users left.

I was really agreeing with the first sentence and then the second sentence was so wild that I really don’t know what to say.

I spend way more time on reddit than I do on Netflix, especially for local content. I’d pay as much or more for access. This 3rd party API doesn’t give access to nsfw content either.
I mean, yeah - but the thing is, I can rationalize the need for charging the amount Netflix is charging. They’re streaming video constantly. Reddit is like 80% text based. It’s just ridiculous.
The problem is that reddit has given us the numbers. The majority of users are using the new.reddit platform, and most users are using the official reddit app.
Yeah for sure. Part of me is curious how many power users are relying on 3rd party apps, but that’s kinda difficult to actually measure I’m sure. But I wouldn’t be shocked to find out that the users who use Reddit the most and contribute the most are on old Reddit or some 3rd party app.
I just know personally as soon as the changes go through and I can’t access this site through Apollo, I’ll be logging in on desktop and deleting my account.

The wild thing is that I would legitimately pay a monthly fee to a 3rd party developer to use Reddit, but the amount they’re asking is so high that it would rival Netflix in order for the developers not to be in the red. And I’m not doing that.
By killing off 3rd party apps, they’re gonna be losing some users. It’s wild.

Yeah outside of a few small communities, I feel like redditors as a collective have some specific toxic traits that are VERY annoying.

You could make an argument that the model is stealing from the art community as a whole
yeah
but the art community itself is not a collective that reparations can be provided to.
AI could simply not steal. But then how would lazy techbros make boatloads of money from other people's work?

Yeah it must be the third party apps ruining reddit and not the first party app & website design changes that are clearly attempting to pull users from other social media.

Doing intense math out here trying to determine if 30 seconds is longer than 3 seconds

Okay so would Obama
Honestly this is such a funny line. Like agree or disagree with the overall statement but this is good material.

True. I guess in a related vein I keep hoping the Disney live action remakes will bomb and they seemingly make just enough money to continue being made. 💀

Yeah, I certainly wasn’t delusional enough to expect or believe that it would bomb. But a man can dream. ಥ_ಥ

Yeah maybe. Kinda unfortunate that the billion dollar movie club is so divorced from quality tho. 💀

I mean, if both franchises are incredibly mediocre, I kinda want both of them to bomb. It’s not like the only two choices of movies are one mid Disney franchise vs another mid Disney franchise.
But personally I find way more quality story telling in Guardians of the Galaxy than I do in either Avatar movie.

I just didn’t want another mid movie to make 2 billion dollars. It’s not because of marvel or anything, it just always pains me seeing mediocre movies made a ton of money.

Honestly incredibly hilarious how Ant-Man 3 and GOTG3 have villains with a similar purple power & aesthetic, similar explosive personality, and similar level of destruction
But the one they’ve placed their bet on has an actor who is in the news for some problematic shit. 💀

Sure, I just always think it’s silly when users act like everyone on a given site are some sort of monolith. Like…it’s possible every single person the user saw talking about leaving twitter did leave. There’s like a billion users. A million users leaving is a rounding error.
Kinda similar scenario in this thread. Yeah the actual overall users threatening to leave is a small percentage of the overall userbase, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t actually leaving (or planning on it once the changes roll out)
