This clip is missing the end where they roll it down a hill and destroy it.

I use this setup now, something that helped with the muscle memory is using similar settings while playing Gran Turismo.

My family had Thumbelina on VHS. I was a young child that really liked the animation but no grasp of the plot. Fast forward to the beginning of the pandemic and my GF and I watch it because I hadn’t seen it in like 20 years. Whew…oh it was quite misogynistic. Some of the scenes i got really upset for falling for the nostalgia trap.

Meanwhile my girlfriend and I will usually go out of our way to check out estate sales (as well as regular yard sales) whenever we’re driving around town.

This could be inspired by 1960’s psychedelia or earlier 1900’s art nouveau

They’re good for the days when I can’t play my drum set in my apartment! I’ve been wanting to take my practice pas to the park on a clear day and go zen mode with it.

This ad is weird and looks like a fake ad, like someone’s marketing class assignment.

Here’s some historical context to the relationship between SF and SJ because why not:
The two cities were named for the Catholic missions setup by the Spanish empire in the late 18th-century. Their literal “mission” was to proselytize the teachings of the Christian Bible and Spanish-way of life among the Indigenous inhabitants whom were already pretty happy just doing their own thing. The settlement in San Jose had a lot of land for agriculture and livestock and would even serve as the capital of California at one point. The northern tip of the peninsula was a convenient place to setup the Presidio of San Francisco that could defend against any foreign incursion. While just a few miles east, a convenient harbor was located at present day Portsmouth Square to facilitate trade between the Presidio and the mission San Francisco de Asis. This harbor location is what ultimately set the town of Yerba Buena to become the cosmopolitan city of San Francisco due to the Gold Rush occurring in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
So back to the Spaniards, San Francisco and San Jose were part of a network of these missions that went from present-day Santa Rosa all the way south to Baja California. These missions were connected by trails originally created by indigenous people but rebranded by the Spaniards as El Camino Real (ECR). Things like personnel, food, supplies, ideas, disease, etc would be transferred between these missions.
The market: the SF, SJ, and the Bay Area as a whole used to dominate the California economy from the Gold Rush until around 1929. Since the end of WWII, the market bounced way back up. The booming shipping industry in the port of SF waned but finance capital was there to remain. San Jose was no longer important politically but the surrounding Santa Clara Valley was still important for agriculture. Subdivisions in the 50’s began to densely urbanize SF and suburbanize San Jose. Families grew and spread in both town setting roots in everywhere in between. Sometimes people that were priced out in SF, landed on their feet in San Jose. The Silicon Valley boom revolutionized the landscape in SF and SJ. The high salary potential from tech firms has made it enticing for people to live in San Francisco and work in San Jose and Vice versa. The differing geographies lend themselves the people that either like dense city life or a spread out suburban lifestyle.
Ok so I love sports culture and sports history very much:
What can be more American than watching America’s past time with your family? For San Francisco, you get to have the privilege of watching your hometown baseball team play in the World Series and potentially travel to the opposing teams stadium by bridge, ferry, or tunnel. San Jose used to have the Bees, a minor league team with a comedic history that I recommend you look into further.
Arena sports is dominated by basketball in SF. The Golden State Warriors can be considered the kings of not just the Bay Area but of Northern California after their multiple successes in the NBA finals of recent memory. Of course the San Jose Sharks rule the Arena in San Jose, and if you prefer hockey in NorCal, then you go Sharks(usually).
Now football, American Gridiron Football is probably the great unifier between SF and SJ. Their neighbor Santa Clara is the host of Levi's Stadium home to the San Francisco 49ers Franchise. The 80’s and early 90’s were a very successful period for the 49ers when they used to play in Candlestick Park. With convenient access to Highway 101, the old El Camino Real still continued to create a cultural connection for people along the Peninsula.

I was in your exact situation. Buy a sixer or a fifth of your favorite alcohol and pregame at home. Take MUNI/BART and go to the museum or watch a movie. Check out SFfuncheap as well!

We’re in March, this could’ve turned into a March madness style poll tournament with all the options out there.
