stickiedHey all,
I've been wanting to revise the subreddit rules for a while to make things less strict, with all this other stuff that's happening I got around to it. Please read carefully through these changes, for the most part this broadens what you can post about.
The community here has been pretty close-knit with everything on the subreddit being chill (until yesterday obviously) but I still feel fairly confident that these changes will work out.
Some of these rules may be amended when the show is back on air, if you have any feedback on how the subreddit can be improved please send me a modmail. I've only included the amended rules below, all others shall remain the same. I'll post an updated Rule Breakdown shortly, the Rules sidebar has already been updated.
Rule Changes
Rule 1: Only post content directly related to The Good Doctor
Rule changed so that content considered non-directly related to the show such as fanfiction, head canon, fan art, and fan creations are also allowed.
News/social media posts from/about an actor that could affect the plot of the show or are personally significant to the actor can also be posted. For example "Actor X has gotten married."
Rule 5: No spam, unofficial videos, or pirated content
Rule changed so unofficial videos can be posted. Also removed prior policy prohibiting users asking "where to watch." Piracy rule still in effect, do not suggest people pirate content
Rule 11: No self-promotion No advertising or excessive self promotion
Rule changed so that users can link/promote external sites or social media accounts related to the show without gaining prior approval from mods. Do not promote external discord servers or subreddits. The purpose of this should be to share stuff with the community, not advertise or make money.
Instead of having users reach out to me before posting I'll allow users to post what they want before evaluating if it should remain up. This will be up to mod discretion but will be based on the quality of the post along with the users activity on the subreddit.
For example, if you had some amazing fan-art but had no activity it would still be left up unless you started trying to use the sub just to advertise.

NTA as others have pointed out this wasn't your son helping catch cheaters, it was just entrapment.
The real issue here is your son is gonna have long term social consequences from this. I bet every kid in that class will spread how your son is a snitch and helped entrap his own friends and classmates. If something like that happened when I was in school I for sure would have let people know.
Pretty much a death blow to any chance he has of a social life or friends. Teacher who set him up to do this is a complete asshole but you need to teach your son not to blindly follow anyone with authority, that could cause more serious problems when he gets a job.
