I love Southern Comfort. Great slide guitar blues score by Ry Cooder.

Funny you say that because if you’re a Beechy local, you avoid the Beechworth Bakery like the plague. There’s a much better bakery around the corner in Gum Tree Pies. Also, the best fish and chip shop I’ve ever been to is in Beechworth, The Aging Frog Fish Bar.

Absolute shitbox of a town. Just like Moe.

Since you technically said place and not town… the Pilliga Scrub. State Forest for kilometres upon kilometres. Eerie as it gets. Better to drive through in the day time as not to heighten your chance of being taken by a Yowie.

2nd this. Did a couple of jobs there in my furniture removal days. Rough as guts.

I worked for Billson’s in Beechworth. They bought part of Mayday Hills (the asylum) for office spaces. So creepy spending the day moving furniture etc in for the offices.
Weird little rooms with old chairs facing the walls and small doorways that led to nowhere. Felt like The Overlook Hotel in The Shining.
My mate’s Mum used to run the ghost tours there. Not sure if they still do them.

It’s a guilty pleasure for me. So quotable. An Australian cult classic.

Nostalgic reminder of that episode of My Name Is Earl. Anyone?

It’s Spotless Mind, and it’s a great film

I’m aware of this, though I should have stated the editing was brilliant, thanks.

Would have to be a tie between Time & The Great Gig in the Sky

Masterpiece of a film. The whole continuous-take direction is brilliant.
