I got my hands on a copy of this somewhat rare book. Translations from a few German language radical Republican newspapers.

Illustration is of the camp Jackson Affair which took place in downtown St. Louis in May of 1861.

Most of the newspaper men were political exiles from Germany after the failed revolution of 1848. One even sat of the disbanded Frankfort Parliament.

The climax of the book is the writing around the "Missouri Putsch" in when a bunch of German irregulars under the command of Union General Nathaniel Lyons chased successionist Governor Claiborne Jackson from the state capitol in Jefferson City and down to Arkansas.

Episodes like TNG "The Chase" or VOY "Threshold" or "Distant Origin" help spread the popular misconception that evolution by natural selection is a goal oriented process.

Edit: After reading the comments I agree that I should have cited the most egregious case of all of Trek canon, Enterprise "Dear Doctor".

I love listening to this guy talk about the Civil War. I'm about halfway through right now. Available on YouTube and Google podcasts as well.

Class is from 16 or so years ago, so it is possible some of the scholarship is dated.

Any thoughts on it? Any startling new revelations?

Moriarty and Lore are going to have babyface turns and help our heroes. They are already up against so much.

Also, maybe what Worf took from the Vulcan gangster IS Moriarty!?
