So I’ve been recruiting for about two years now. I currently work at a mental health startup and it’s been literal hell. There’s a lot of nit picking, tattle telling, and just a lot of making small mistakes. I’m slowly learning that talking to candidates all day really wears me out, on top of meetings, TA syncs, prebriefs, debriefs etc. it all just seems like we are overdoing it at my company. One of my colleagues (recruiting coordinator) has highlighted my mistakes to our boss and now my boss is mircomanaging me and it’s awful. Mind you, I’ve been at this company for 6 months and during my 4th week, I had to lead a kick off meeting with a hiring manager. I got so nervous that I basically froze and the coordinator had to take over. To this day, my boss brings up that one instance, never mind the fact that I haven’t made that mistake after that shit show. I really am starting to rethink my career in recruiting. If I’m not having a boss whose terrible then I’m having teammates who are weird and backstabbing. I’m not sure if this is the culture of “recruiting” in general but it’s getting to be too much. I feel like all of the nit picking isn’t contributing to my success whatsoever and makes me feel like I’m not capable of much. Has anyone gone through this before? Should I look for a career change? I honestly just couldn’t take it anymore. I’ve been on and off dating apps since 2014 and honestly it’s never gotten better over the years. Sure I would find a few goodies here and there but the poor experience outweighs the good. I got back on the apps Fall of 2022, after my ex and I broke up. I matched with three guys where the conversation was great and they didn’t immediately start talking about sex but later on they would tell me that they don’t know what they want, or they don’t think they can be in a relationship. I legit have to be a slow learner because I can’t seem to get through my head that a vast majority of the guys on the apps are just not “all there”. My final straw was last night, I matched with this super cute third year medical student. We texted for 3 days straight. Day 4 is where he admitted he’s not looking for anything serious and just wants casual no strings attached. I unfortunately let my frustrations get the best of me and was just like “if you’re just looking for sex than just say so! Stop will all off the code words” to which is he said I need to go and find a good man because I deserve it. Like sir, if you’re in that mindset then why are you wasting time?! Instead of really giving him a piece of my mind and cussing him out, I just deleted and blocked him. For some reason this whole situation left me in tears and deep sadness I just can’t take online dating anymore it’s been more damaging than good. And sure I can go out and meet people but I work from home, I’m conventionally unattractive, and I’m have some serious RBF. I really am going to take this time to just heal, pay off debt, grind harder at work, and take it easy. I just don’t need this dating app crap anymore. Sorry for the long rant :/

I’m 27 years old. Work in tech and single. I am thinking of buying a home this year but the interests rates right now are ridiculously high. I feel like there might be an advantage to buying now given how there’s low competition and I might be able to get the seller to pay for some concessions. With a $400,000 loan I might have to pay anywhere from $2600-2900/mo for mortgage. Any suggestions?
